Question
Some are funny and others are just annoying! Just some random conversations I have had recently.
This woman was telling me how she had just started buying on eBay. In her first week of bidding she was sniped at the last minute. Boy was she mad until she learned to snipe herself! You should have seen her eyes light up when I told her that there were sniper programs out there that would do her bidding for her. She is buying expensive stuff, violins to be more specific. If you were to see her buying habits and notice she was a newbie bidding on your auctions, you would be really suspicious. You would probably come here and post about it just to get our opinions. She cannot understand why violin sellers have a no return policy because, when buying violins, it is all about the sound. How can you know the violin is good without playing it? There was one violin that she wanted so badly that she put in a proxy bid as the credit limit on her credit card. Imagine if another bidder had done the same.
A man is in dire need of money as he has been out of a job for months and months, so he is selling off his stuff. He had no idea about the fees and cannot understand for the life of him how he can sell something for $150 and only net about 80% of that after he pays eBay and PayPal fees. I told him that the percentage gets less and less the lower the final price of the item. He wants to know why the seller has the to pay the PP fees and not the buyer? Welcome to my world.

They should all have to try it first.

That was very first thought that went through my head when she said that!

I wish I had more bidders like that. One of these days....one of these days.
They should all have to try it first.
I wanted to tell that to a customer that has been bombarding me all week because I dared to charge a handling fee! He seems to think the $4 that I charged was excessive and that "it is the highest he's seen on eBay." I have been so tempted to send him a link to a couple hundred of those auctions that start at 99 cents and charge a $40 shipping/handling fee.
Answer
Depends on what you sold him If it was a baseball card that went into an envie, then yes, that's high
Send him some examples and then explain what you did for that 4.00 and then just ignore him.
I wanna find some violins

These are the kind of people that make the WORST sellers. They have NO business sense whatsoever and THINKING they are going to make a quick buck will list an item a dollar or 2 more then what they paid. At the same time you are selling the same item also but know what your doing and are trying to make a real profit. While eventually this person will realize they are losing their A** and stop selling, in the mean time they are taking away from your profits. However just as that moron goes out of "business" there always a new one popping up. As much as i would really hate it to be done (although ebay will NOT do it anyway) its examples like this that make me wish you had to be a legal business in order to sell on ebay

The sad part is that many "legal business" types are no smarter than the guy selling his Grandfather's toenail clippings for a dollar. And the same thing happens, as soon as they go down another one pops up with dollar signs in his eyes. It just goes on and on, it's never going to change.
But I digress. And now, back to your regular scheduled programming.
Answer
A few years ago when I was selling on eBay for a living, one of my friends asked me to sell three crates of Depression glass for her. She said I could keep 10% of the proceeds, out of which I'd pay all fees.
I said no.
Answer
Yeah, newbies do say the darndest things.....
I started it at .90, you won it at .90 but I am going to charge you 6.00 And say something like that 5 times
And the seller wins-5 negs and a report of non-performing seller
