Question
I placed a bid on an item a few days ago using my workplace ID. Someone outbid me during the night and I upped my bid this morning before the third cup of coffee. Unfortunately I used my personal (home) ebay ID.
So I don't know if I'm in trouble or not. I'm using the same credit card but two different ISP's. I understand it's not a good thing to be using two ID's while bidding on the same items and I'm perfectly willing to contact ebay and explain the screwup, but I'd much rather let the auction run its course rather than get involved with the bureaucrats.
If I'm gonna get caught, I'd rather fess up now, assuming that's possible. Any advice??
Note: Normally this isn't something I'd care much about but the item up for auction is something important to me and I'd hate to lose out because I screwed up...
Answer
If it were me and I really did intend to buy the item regardless of the bidding id I was using if I turned out to be the high bidder, I'd let it go without comment. It's not like you're trying to cheat anybody.
I'd much rather let the auction run its course rather than get involved with the bureaucrats.
I doubt you'd even be able to find one who understood what was actually happening, anyway.
Answer
I've done that before. Purely by accident as well. Nothing happened, I am sure it will be fine.
Answer
If i'm not mistaken, thats not even a violation.
I've done it on purpose, a few years ago i used my other id to bid something up to meet the reserve. (i hate reserves)
Answer
Same here. I think the only problem is if the seller and bidder are the same

Answer
Don't worry about it. You didn't do anything wrong.
Answer
A couple of years ago, I was bidding on an item under one of my bidding ID's, and since I wasn't going to be online when the auction ended, I later decided to raise my proxy. So I bid again, but accidentally used a different ID.
I raised my own bid!
(Yep, I paid! )
Answer
I did it myself a few times. As long as you honor your bid, it doesn't really matter, anyway.
