Question
When I get an email from an ebayer, I get the email in:
1. My mailbox
2. "my messages" in my ebay
3. "You have X items with X questions to respond reminder
I don't think that the new "email" system that eBay implemented is making things easy, rather making things annoying and confusing. I usually either respond by clicking the yellowbutton or click the #3 option.
Right now, I got a total of 400+ emails in "my messages" and plan to let it build up forever.

You too? I wonder how many they'll store before they have to delete them.
The people that force me to use the "Big Yellow Button" quite often don't get an answer either. It depends what the question is. For example, don't ask me if I can sell you more than the amount I have listed and expect me to answer through eBay.
Answer
I'm not selling right now, but I won't use it either.
Answer
Meya, even if you want to use it, you can't. It's not convenient at all to treat it as an email box.
I'm just going to store ever questions and stupid questions there.
And if another idiot tries to scam me, I can look up the emails through his ID and forward them direct to ebay and paypay.
That's the only function I can think of right now.
The way eBay thinks: "If it's not broken, break it so the employees have something to work on to upset us, then fix it again later"
Answer
Another function is that if you are sent a spoof email emulating one of these 'ask seller a question' emails, it will not appear in 'My Messages'. That has come in handy quite a few times!
Since my drop off store has become a powerseller, we get several spoofed powerseller emails a day. If they are real, they are in My Messages. Since they don't appear there, they are bogus phishing emails and I report 100% of those to eBay!
Another use for them is that somehow the combination of Netscape and hotmail screw up the links in the email when I click them from home. So if I want to answer a question after hours, I can do it from My Messages. I can get to all the messages on active auctions by going to My Summary on the My eBay page, but not to the questions on the completed auctions.
I just periodically go into My Messages and delete delete delete!
Answer
Yes, that's true, but you gotta remember, option #3.
There's already a reminder in the My Ebay which says: you have X items with X questions.
You can just go there and answer or delete.

Except that doesn't work on already completed auctions. You either have to click on the link in the email or in the message to get to it. I suppose you can go to the auction itself, but I've never tried that.

My "My Messages" works like crap..........
the 1st "alert" that showed up announcing the system would never open.
Box is greyed out so I can't delete it. None of the messages that come in can be opened.
Went to my buying ID to see if it was the same. THAT one (which I seldom use) works FINE. Alert was underlined with the envelope or whatever behind it, I clicked, it opened I read it & was ablle to delete or send to a folder (can't remember which") The few messages that have come in there can be read & deleted.
Not on my main ID. I've tried "customizing" it...I've logged out & back in. I've cleared cookies & cleaned my cache & the dang thing still won't work right.........
I'd love to rip that "You have 1 alert" off the page!
Anybody with any clues how to make that work, I'd appreciate it..........

Answer
Certain alerts will not go away until the expiration date. We changed our password and it sat there for a full month!
Answer
Seems like I read somewhere that after a period of time (a month maybe) the emails will go away. I wouldn't bet the farm that I have this right but I'm pretty sure I read something like that.
