Just a somewhat funny thing I read at the PS board

Question
Well...
here's the link. You need to be a powerseller to read it.
http://forums.ebay.com/db1/thread.js...1231 89415135
It's some guy selling... yucky stuff and got slammed by alot of the red stars.

Answer
Poor guy got slammed alot because he is selling snake oil ... I haven't laughed this much for a while... relieves stress.

Answer
So, I'm just SOL, cause I'm not a PS?
Thanks for the post.
I guess.

Answer
Dear Sai-Jin (she said gently)...
Many of us have voluntarily eschewed PowerSeller status, so we won't be able to read it.
Perhaps you could hit the high points.

It's ok I hope/?

Hello! I fairly new to the PS program. Was just wondering if any other powersellers out there were "younger" than me with fewer feedbacks. I made PS at 110...Any other record setters? I like this eBay business...

Not that I find the need for the products the OP sells, but what someone sells who has numerous happy customers, I don't see how those could be not considered "real" items. If the seller has money in his pocket and his customers receive their products, they are as real as they come.

The requirement was 100 5 years ago when I became a powerseller. To try to answer it would be better to ask how long it took to become a powerseller. I qualified at 90 days but back then it took them 1 1/2 to 2 months to let you know so it took about 4 1/2 months for me to become a powerseller but I had several hundred feedback by then

Online: It's just that we're not really sure being a powerseller means anything to anyone except "us." The impression on many other boards is that powersellers are scum. So, that's where we're coming from on toning that part down a bit.

Really? Why would other boards think powersellers are scum? Aren't we all here for the same reason: to sell and make a profit, be it big or small? I would think that people would be envious to have the oppurtunity to sell a large number of smaller priced items or a few very large priced items to achieve this "lofty" goal. I guess I view the powerseller "program" differently now that we've achieved PS status. Even though you don't really get many perks (A great perk would be every Tuesday is .10 listing day!), it's still a nice goal to reach.
Too bad they don't have a Super PowerSeller program to go for now!

Not sure if anyone actually answered your question OP, not quite sure what the responses I glanced at are about - don't know the exact # but I became a PS in 2002 after just 3 or 4 months of selling and have been one since.
Actually I would love to know what my feedback # was - can you click on my feedback #, then click on view 200 results per page, and then go to page 13, and start counting my feedbacks from sometime in January 2002 and then count how many individual feedbacks there are for 3 or 4 months? Prior to January 2002 there was barely any activity as I think I became a member in '98 or something to buy a cookie jar, but then put something on in Jan 2002 as a fluke and have never looked back. Then we can have a better idea of if I started selling in the middle of january or the end I'd do it but I have orders to take of......
Thank you Kisses

I was upset thinking what job skills do I have and realized I had Ebay and Google (I have a decent knowledge of Google/Yahho pay per click)
I used my Feedback as a resume to get a full time job selling on Ebay. I had also gotten another interview based on my Ebay Feedback (And my knowledge of Google clickwords)
The manager was very impressed with my feedback (I know many of yours are higher, but mine is certainly good enough) and figured I was good at buying and selling (Another good marketable skill). And I was hired on the spot, considering lots of people are looking for work now, I was truly lucky!!

Howard... I think his feedback for what he sells might be good for a job in the porn industry. I'm afraid those types of products are a little inappropriate to mix in with my selection though. Hmm, on second thought, maybe not, as kids do occur on occasion as a result of what the op's produts are for. Oh boy! I'm really thinking now! I can have life-long customers! Stating that you are a Powerseller, is not pride, it is a fact. Your whole job is to market your product, so whatever helps you sell it more, but using it tastefully will definitely help you, because you see more Powerseller logos than pictures of the actual product.

I may be the only person to post on this thread who has absolutely no interest in the effects your products promise, but I'm impressed by your calm responses to the jokes and less than friendly remarks. Hey, I don't care what you sell, as long as you conduct your sales in a professional manner, you're a good PS, in my opinion. But I do agree about leaving the God bless stuff out of the auctions. With the political climate these days, some of us are hyper-sensitive to that kind of thing. I myself hit the back button if I see any kind of religious comment on an auction. Anyways, good luck!

Wow, talk about grace under fire. Some of the folks forgot their Prozac today, it seems.
I do not particularly approve of selling items that prey on the insecurities and naivete of others, but the sellers than offer "get an ipod for only 20 bucks" and ebooks on how to be succesful by renting out their whatever are worse.
I saw one seller posting in here about a week or so ago that sold e-snake oil and no one jumped on him.

Yeah, I agree about keeping the God Bless out as well, unless you think God will coach you through your "continued success" of some product that 'He' wanted you to take since He messed up creating you the first time...
I would never knock the product though, or that any religous beliefs would taint the fact of taking it...maybe to some...

"Nice BIG Typo in your descrition : Legitament =Legitamate "
Hey--if you are going to tell the guy how to spell, tell him how to spell correctly. It is "LEGITIMATE". And, "descrition" has a "p" in it.

We've done a good job perpetuating that one, right gals?
It's right up there with" No, Noone can tell it's a hair piece".

I would have more feedback if not first time buyers mostly buying from me- they have no clue what feedback is, and sometimes they send me feedback in the email... what do you do with these buyers? Explaining takes a long time.

In a recent study, the average seller on this board who left feedback 100% of the time had left 1,180 more feedback than they received.

When I was a fairly new seller (geez I can't believe I'm going to admit this in public), I used to print out my feedback, and as I got feedback in, I mark off who I got it from and what the item was. Then about once a month or so, I'd email the people I hadn't gotten any from and would ask them ever so nicely to please leave me feedback. Sometimes it worked. I'm REALLY glad I didn't get any negs over it before I figured out that it just wasn't cool to do that.
