Question
One of these days, someone needs to do a book about all the different auction sites, owners and forums from circa 2000 - present. All the players and all the behind the scene happenings. So much has happened in the last couple of years that my brain is reeling and I have no idea what is going on anymore(if I ever did). Who and what sites to trust and where to go next is like trying to follow a soap opera when you only tune in every once and awhile. What do you believe and what do you not believe anymore? What sites are closing and what sites are just for spamming? Where's my crib note edition?
Sorry for the rambling...just my state of being at the moment.
Oh well..guess I could just "unplug" all together...
Answer
Ever since i read The Perfect Store, I was thinking such a book would be interesting too. I'd go back a bit further though, say about 1994. I'm sure there are a bunch of stories about the people and the scheming and dreaming that was involved.

HA!...well I have always been on the fringes of the auction market and only on the smaller sites...never been in the know...I only knew of meg and pierre after pierre posted that "it's only a $1" for reserve auctions post...I was briefly aware of gregg and janice at golds, had a brief encounters with eric at dutchbid and only knew of sheila at golds and sellyouritem. Don't know many of their "real" names and never knew the true story of who they were and what their plans were for their sites. I wasn't even aware of the AE thingy until recently. I was only a part time poster/member at here during those days. I never even joined the gegy/canaby/wagglepop groups in favor of or against..I mostly just watched to see what would happen. There are so many other owners, sites, forums, and sellers that know so much more about these things..it just seems fascinating to me at times....

I crafted this mediocre flowchart for ************* (AC, I guess you can't say auktionkrotch still?), it shows relationships, but not really any time frames.
