Question
eBay wonders why they have problems with buyers getting upset with sellers!
Maybe if they wouldn't TWIST our words between the UID form and the dispute console, there would be far less tempers flaring. Have been patiently waiting for a payment from overseas for 3 weeks now and when it didn't show today and I hadn't received a reply to my friendly "what's up?" email from 4 days ago.....I filed an UID. The choices made were:
"Buyer has not paid" ......uh....well DUH.....yeh that's correct from box #1.
On to the next pull down box.
"Payment has not been received or has not cleared" ......ummmm....yep....that's correct also.
Hit submit and check the dispute console to find the following:
Buyer actions reported by seller: The buyer has refused to pay.
NOWHERE did I choose a statement that says the buyer has refused to pay, but eBay has decided to say it....IN THOSE TERMS....for me! It must have taken a whole flock of cubicle geniuses that have never interacted with the public to come up with such an IN YOUR FACE way to pizz off a buyer.....and of course, it looks like it is us nasty azzed sellers accusing them instead of eBay's automated quote mangling!
I am as broke as the proverbial church mouse right now, but I think I am gonna PayPal Meg a dollar so she can buy a couple of clues!
Answer
That has to be calculated...they simply can't be that stupid. I wonder if that's their not-so-subtle way to get us to eat the fees, rather than risk a neg. I sure wouldn't put it past them.
Answer
Yeah, I've delt with that before. Just plain stupid. It's a great way to pick a fight with a slow payer.
I put in the comment section "bidder has NOT refused to pay".
Can you imagine getting a email from ebay stating that "you have refused to pay"?
Stupid is right.
Answer
Yes, awhile back I had a bad-check-writer who flew ALL OVER me for supposedly stating that she "refused to pay", when in reality, I chose "did not clear".
Answer
Same here. Had a buyer in England, payment took a while to arrive... worried me, she said she was sending cash. Ebay turned it into a real mess, with "buyer has refused to pay" and demanding each of us respond (what is it, every 7 days?) until it was settled. I will be surprised if I don't end up with a neg. (eventually) from her.
It does little good trying to explain to a buyer, that you're simply trying to send a payment reminder, when email may not be getting across ... A "Dispute" sounds pretty hateful.
Ya know, it almost sounds like the "new system" must have been put together by a foreigner who had a pretty poor understanding of our language! Nothing bad meant... I remember something about the words Pinto and Nova... I forget the others!
Answer
This eBay wording reminds me of someone painting a floor and working their way away from the door toward the walled corner. Duh.
