Question
I had a new hard drive installed a couple of weeks ago and a clean install of XP. One by one I reinstalled my programs and TL was one of the last I did.
It was working fine and I had saved my user data and placed it in the new TL folder. I was able to make new listings and even uploaded some.
But yesterday it started acting up. I would get the start screen with a message box (don't remember what it said, but it was one of those 'don't show this again' types.) Right after I'd get that box I would get a Windows error message that Turbo Lister had encountered a problem and must shut down. I got that message several times and finally decided to uninstall and reinstall. I did the reinstall but now TL wouldn't even try to open. I got a flicker as if a message box of some sort tried to open, but couldn't see it.
So I tried opening it a few more times and decided to uninstall again and download the program instead of using the CD. Same thing. It looks like it tries to open, then doesn't.
I need HELP. I'm wanting to start listing some new stuff again and have taken a bunch of pics last night and am ready to go. Now the dang TL is screwed up and I can't find any sort of tech support on eBay.
Anybody know if there is such a thing? Or a number to call for it?
Or maybe someone knows what's up with this stooopid computer and TL?
Any answers appreciated.
Thanks y'all
Pat
Answer
Have you tried the boards?

When I had trouble once, I found the answer there. Sorry, don't know anything about tech support.
Answer
Thanks Blondie. I found something there that I'm going to try. I did disable my firewall when installing, but didn't disable my anti virus program.
That's what the FAQs recommends, so here I go.

Answer
Have you tried backing up your database and restoring it after the TurboLister installation? Just copying the folder is not sufficent these days. There are so many settings in the registry and other locations that may need to be copied to the new computer as well. Backup your old TurboLister database and restore it on the new computer. When you restore your database, TurboLister should take care of all the restoration details for you.
Answer
After doing some checking around last night on Google, it seems like TL has 'issues' with XP-SP2. So it looks like I might just be uninstalling windows AGAIN and reinstalling SP1.
My brother does all my upgrading and basically I don't ask questions till something goes blooey. I just can't figure out why it was working for a couple of weeks then just decided to quit. I just hope I still have a cd around here somewhere with SP1 on it. LOL Sometimes when he does an upgrade he'll hand me the old cd and say "here, you don't need this anymore."
And sometimes I'll toss em.
(Whew! Just checked and I do have SP1, thank God)
Well, it's gonna be a fun weekend here. I HATE installing Windows.

Answer
I do not think that is it. I think I am running XP Home with SP2 and no problem with TL.
You might want to post on the eBay chat board for TL before doing the install.
Answer
Yes. I've been doing some more reading on the TL forum and someone had success with Live Help getting his TL up and running again, so I'm going to try that first.
Of all the tl.log files posted there (all complaining of the same kind of problem), all were running XPSP 2 and missing the same .DLL file. Maybe I can get some help there.

Answer
If you are missing one .dll file, I think it is easier to replace that one file than do a full install.
You might want to start a new thread with a title for how to replace a missing dll file. Other readers skipping this thread because of TL may be able to help regarding the dll file.
Answer
Thanks Commentary. I had the same thought about the missing .DLL.
I'm leaving in a bit to go to a wedding and will try to start a new thread later tonight or fomorrow during the day from there. I did Google the .DLL but didn't find a source for it yet.
