Question
All of my new buyer contacts/questions go directly to my ebay. No emails to my email addy. No email address displayed anywhere in the my ebay message.
I had one of my other ebay accounts send a message to my seller account on one of my live auctions. I did not check the hide email address box. It turned up in my ebay as well and as a test I put one of my email addresses in one of the messages and the message that I put an email address in never showed up anywhere, but the others only showed up in my ebay and none to my email address.
Answer
Whenever I send messages THRU eBay, I always include my (typed into the text) eBay ID and email addy!...
Answer
If that is true, buyers and sellers alike will lose out. I only pay attention to EMAILS sent directly to ME. I pay NO attention to the "My Message" folder in "My Ebay".
When will ebay start doing things to drive people to their site INSTEAD of AWAY?
Ever since ebay's fee hike I only list regular auctions when they have 10 cent listing days and I dont put Anything extra (not even gallery) to make sure I keep it at only 10 cents. I'm starting to list now on Amazon and Overstock with alot less of my work going into ebay.
My back is almost healed and I will be returning to my regular job shortly. Once I do this I will be more financially stable and plan on pulling away from ebay completely and having my own website.
Ebay was once Great, but now I just look forward to the day they become just a "memory"

Not much choice due to the fake emails and fake second chnce offers.

These issues have been a problem for me. But I suppose if you're not savvy it is possible. But you still have to log on to the eBay site in order to view your messages - so I don't really see the point in the argument.
The real reason is to reduce their revenue leak by plugging areas of potential fee avoidance. Once you get communication on the web site, it can be monitored for fee avoidance activity.
Answer
eBay has done many things to piss us all off, but that doesn't mean that we should become Chicken Little running around and claiming that eBay is causing the sky to fall every time we get bonked with an acorn or an internet annoyance.
eBay is still sending Ask Seller A Question emails to your regular email inbox, and they include the buyer's email so that you can reply directly. I got two today. It's also covered in the MyMessages FAQ.
Why do I get two copies of member-to-member communications? My Messages is now the default delivery location for member-to-member communications. eBay is continuing to send email as well so as to not disrupt processes that rely on email. We understand that the eBay Community relies on email correspondence.
Our goals in providing you a copy of member-to-member communications in My Messages are so you can easily verify the authenticity of email you receive; know that it was sent by eBay (on behalf of an eBay member); and that it is not a spoof or phishing attempt. Furthermore, we can guarantee the delivery of messages to My Messages. Emails sent over the Internet are susceptible to being blocked by your ISP or email filters.
If you're not getting Ask Seller A Question emails in your inbox it's because they're being blocked by your isp or some filtering software on your computer.
Answer
I use yahoo. I don't let emails get downloaded to my puter.
I've seen others on ebay boards with same problem and others like you who have received them. I have no explanation for that. I just know that I used to receive them and now they only go into my ebay.
Time will tell.
Answer
Boy, I sure have been receiving a lot of fake emails...
My eBay account has been suspended.
My Paypal account has been compromised.
Seems like I get four or five a day.
I even had one about becoming a power seller on eBay
and I almost fell for it...notice I said almost.
Yep started to click on a link.
Then I thought, no way do I sell enough to become a
power seller...my mind started to wonder if they
reduced the amount of sales needed...
I started to click the link then thought, what
they heck are you doing girl? Back that
clicking finger up!
It looked sooooo real!
Anyone else having a rash of fake emails?
Answer
Hasn't effected me at all. I get them both to my messages center in my ebay.. and to my mailbox. They're identical and arrive at the same time.
Most likely any problem people have receiving them, to their inbox, has to do with the mail server they're using -- getting caught in spam filters -- blacklisted --- any number of reasons. If you're using a free site, you get what you pay for. If you're paying for your service then talk to your ISP or provider and see what the deal is and what could be done to correct the issue. If worse comes to worse.. take matters into your own hands and get a domain so you have control over what sites are blacklisted and the spam filters.
I guess, in the meantime, all I can suggest is that you keep hitting refresh on your "my ebay" section to check for questions --- otherwise your customer service is gonna bite.
Answer
I've found My Messages to be nothing but an emporium of spam from eBay. But I can predict eBay stopping and eventually banning all direct contact between buyer and seller. Let's face it, eBay is out to own the Internet. They'll nickel and dime their way as long as we allow it. I put my direct contact email in every auction. Ninety-nine percent of buyers click on the "ask seller a question" link instead.
