Question
Five days ago, I used BIN to purchase a $125 item and paid right away via PayPal. The auction listing states that immediately on receipt of payment via PayPal, you will be emailed the tracking number...
I haven't heard from the seller at all regarding this transaction and noticed that the last day that he left feedback or listed items was the day before I BIN'd this item.
I'm gettling a little concerned that I haven't heard but don't want to be a pushy, annoyance. How long should I wait before pulling contact info and giving them a call?
Answer
Have you emailed them or used eBay "contact"?
Answer
Both.
By the way Meya, how are you adjusting to the empty nest?
Answer
Does "wiggin out" qualify as "adjusting"? Setting the table for only 2...just a couple of loads of laundry per week, the house is the same when I come home after work as it was when I left in the morning, there are NO shoes at the bottom of the steps...and so on. (I didn't do DD's laundry, but it was always laying around etc) I don't know whether to laugh or cry, so I do both.
Answer
it always pisses me off when someone pulls our contact info without emailing us, i don't know why it bothers me considering our phone # and everything else is available on our website.
i guess im too sensitive.
Answer
I pull contact info and call all the time. If I'm having a hard time getting ahold of someone via email, or if something has become complicated, I pull info and call.
I use my cell phone for all my phone calls, and calling next door uses the same minutes as calling Florida, so I just call them up. It seems to condense some of those difficult issues (broken item, lost in mail, etc) down to much easier ones. Also, there's nothing like getting a phone call to refocus a disinterested seller's attention on you.
Answer
I haven't heard anything from the seller today. Yesterday I sent email with a return receipt requested and haven't gotten the receipt.
I pulled the contact info today and called about six times. No answer each time.
Is there a way to reverse a PayPal payment that's been made for an item? I wouldn't do that for another week but I'm wondering if that is an option if I don't hear anything.
Sorry to hear you are wigging, Meya. It's good that she's close to her brothers.

You know, it has been sooooooooooooooo long since I bought anything on eBay (formerly I called it eBad). Two of my three recent purchases went well and within one week I received the two of the three items (one, was mailed media mail from 3,000 miles away). However, for one item, I never received confirmation of a shipment date. I paid immediately with PayPal. Now, I'm trying to figure out how to request contact information. I can't seem to find that on the eBay site. Can anyone provide a link for me? May I just say, this sale, currently gone bad, involves a seller less than 150 miles away from me.
In advance, thanks for your help.
Answer
Three O's...
Some of the auction tools out there will relist auctions automatically, or list on a schedule. They will also leave feedback automatically, when feedback is left for that account by the other party. Just because new listings are appearing and feedback is being left does not mean the seller is sitting at their computer doing it. Your seller may very well be out of town or something. If the BIN was an item listed in their eBay Store, this is even more likely... eBay Stores don't have a "vacation" setting. The listings are perpetual in some cases, and for a seller to put them "on hold" for a vacation or family emergency or something, they all would have to be closed, one at a time, which is very time consuming... then they'd have to be relisted again, which is both time consuming and expensive. If you are an eBay seller with a store, and you go out of town, you do so with a little prayer that you won't get too many negs before you return from your trip. Also, there is no bulk distribution way to add a message to your listings. It's really a bad system if you have to leave. Half.com has a "vacation" button that will take all a seller's listings out of public view until they turn them back on. eBay really needs something like that for their stores.

I believe that feature was added about 6 or 7 months ago. My store is closed so I can't confirm that though.
