Question
This is my first thread on the forum--I came here seeking your wise counsel.
Okay, 2 days ago I got an email from eBay saying that my account had been suspended. This really freaked my out--I actually thought it was just a spoof e-mail at first, but when I tried to log into eBay they said that I was restricted because my account had been suspended!
The reason? They say I was "associated" with some other eBay user that they apparently didn't like. I don't get how they can do this.
Anyway, does anyone how I could set-up another account now? I need eBay for my buisness (both buying and selling) and this is a major headache. I don't want to brake any laws, obviously, but is there a way I can set-up another account while creatively staying within the rules? Thanks!
Answer
You don't want to setup another account. If eBay finds out, it is a permanent suspension. You should get the phone number of eBay and call them. Someone soon will come by and post contact info for you or you can search old threads for it.
Answer
Have all of your accounts been suspended? Your Power Seller account? Try PS support.

How did they say this? In the email message? I agree that setting up a new account is not the way to go. You should try to contact them and find out what is going on. Is there any truth to what they say, did anyone you know or were involved with in business have an ebay account that was suspended?
Answer
you might try to use the eBay "Live Help". I don't think you have to have a eBay ID to use it. Just insert your email address and what you want to talk about and go. The link is "usually" found on the eBay home page, upper right corner.

Answer
you can't get a new eBay account while under suspension, that is the rules
but
you can use someone elses if you need to.
From another thread.....you said....
HOWEVER, I myself am on my 5th User ID as a seller, and since I'm doing that, I assume others are as well
are all your accounts frozen?
what are they saying you did wrong? Did you bid on this guys stuff. Who squealed?
here had a guy in england a while ago who had the same problem, he was living in the "same building" as a shiller I think, and they nailed him. It was a multi unit apartment building, geez now eBay expects us to police what our neighbours are doing behind closed doors.
NARU's are no longer suspect as bad business, they are now assumed....Ebay screwed up. Pretty sad that eBay is so quick to get rid of the paying customers.
Answer
Actually, I think that's exaclty what happened! I lived in a multi unit college housing unit, and someone with a similar name was selling something eBay didn't like (nothing against the law, just one of those things eBay doesn't want to spend the time to properly monitor). Anyway, the helpdesk said there is not much they can do for me.
Apparently there might be something I can do if I were the victim of identity theft--but I doubt it was that per se--my guess is that eBay mixed up me and this other guy, or just figured we were the same person or whatever.
Anyway, here's a question:
Can my wife sign up for an account while I'm suspended, or not? IF not, that would really suck!

From the other thread:
Apparently someone I know DID get suspended, that that part was right. I don't why I can't still use eBay, though, that seems wierd. The only thing I can think of is that they think the suspened user was actually ME. But even so, I know of lots of people (in this forum...) who themselves have multiple IDs, so what's the big deal?
How are you associated with this other user? Does this other user live with you and share an internet connection with you? Have you or this other user ever bid on each other's auctions?
Answer
I don't think we've every bid on each other's auction, but out address was almost the same (different apartment number--but we used to get each other's mail all the time). Also, our names are VERY similar (again, lot's of problems with that one and the mail system).
He moved out of that building about 2 months before I did, I'm not sure where he is now.
I'm not to confident on eBay's willingness to help in situations like this. A coworker of mine had his account suspended for an "association" as well--his brother had been selling items which eBay considered pornographic and was suspended. My coworker never got his account reinstated, he said eBay didn't seem to care in the least.
Has anyone else had problems with eBay's customer care in these matters, or do I have hope?
Answer
OH, and my neighbor and I used the same computer (public terminal) sometimes--could that have anything to do with this?
