Question
While looking at some ebay auctions today I came across this statement:
"ACCEPT PAYPAL PAYMENTS WITH AN ADDED FEE OF 50% OF PAYPAL CHARGE "
Is that allowed under eBay rules?
Larry
Answer
No it isn't allowed.
They will probably get turned into ebay for this.
I don't know if ebay does anything about it or not but it still isn't allowed.
Answer
Definitely not. I've noticed this more and more. I've also noticed this a bunch on UK auctions. Anywhere from 10% to a 55% I saw today.
I used to turn 'em in when I was a Powersmeller and had an easy link.
Now I'm not and I have no idea how to report.
And I no longer care even a tittle, a jot or an iota.
Answer
I think its also illegal in California.
Tony.
Answer
and violates paypals TOS
Answer
I wonder if eBay will start letting sellers get by with this, if they begin losing PayPal biz. I've noticed more and more sellers in the categories I shop are NOT taking PayPal. As sales continue to decline, the PayPal fees may no longer be acceptable to a seller's bottom line...
Answer
I think it was or is allowed in Europe.

Yes, I've seen it posted a number of places, too.
But I've never seen an accurate explanation of how charging a buyer a fee to accept a PayPal payment breaks any law.
