Stock pictures okay? Do you use them?

Question
I have a load of new & used books to list, but wouldn't you know it? My scanner went kaputz last night. I won't be able to get a new one until the end of the month, so I'm stuck.
I've always used my own pictures for books, dvds, etc., but I know a LOT of sellers use only the stock images, even for used items.
What do you all think? Do you use stock images? Are they okay to use, or should I wait until a new scanner can be had?

Answer
it wouldnt bother me as a buyer
unless there where defects that you tried to describe but coulldnt picture

Answer
I use them all the time for CD's and for certain collectibles where the condition is excellent and hence matches the picture.

Depending on exactly what is being sold you might want to state that the pics are stock photos, not the actual item

Answer
My reply would have been the same as Bill's.
The major exception is that if I have a CD w/no art/lyrics/etc. whatsoever - IOW, just the cd and an unmarked case, I won't use the stock photo because no matter what you put in the description, I figure the customer will be disappointed. In that case, I almost always show the actual cd and case.
You might want to use no pic at all - I list CDs on Alibris w/out pics all the time.
Peace,
Sadie

Answer
I used my digital camera to take pictures of my books before I got a scanner. Did a real good job too. Do you have a D. camera? Phyllis

Answer

I have a camera, I'm looking right at it now.
See what a rut I've gotten into? I didn't even think of the obvious solution.
Thanks for everyone's replies. I'm off to set up a book-sized photo area.
(that faint glow in the northeast is me still blushing!)

Answer
Personally, as a Seller, I take my own pics.

But, that doesn't deter me as a buyer. As long as your description reassures that you actually own the item you are selling, stock photos don't deter me.
