Ohio sellers getting nailed by state ?

Question
I heard a guy telling someone else today that a buddy of his got a bill in the mail for $800.00 from the state for taxes on items he sold on eBay.
Anyone heard anything like this going on ?
I will be seeing this guy tomorrow & will see what he says & I will let everyone know. If this is true.....this is obviously not a good thing.
But since I heard it second hand.....I'll wait to see what he says.

Answer
Not sure if you've read this one yet, but there's a thread going on about auctioneers' licenses and how that affects selling on eBay (including some discussion of taxes):
Ohio was one of the states most prominent in that discussion.

Answer
Wouldn't surprise me.
I haven't received such a thing, but all my eBay sales are run through my vendor's license and reported there and in my company taxes, so there isn't anything more to owe.

Until Ohio implements their new commerce tax effectively charging income tax even when you sell at a loss. Yay.

Answer
Actually I did talk to him. As I figured, blown way out of proportion. He got a bill from the state but it was unrelated to eBay.
Love how things get twisted around
