Question
Anyone else getting errors when attempting to request a downloadable log from "My History" within PayPal?
Every time I try to request a log for a given time span, it says this in red:
"Downloadable Logs are currently unavailable. Please try again later."
I tried requesting a log last week (exactly a week ago) and it did the same thing to me then.
???
Answer
I tried it just out of curiousity and it worked for me.
Answer
Since January.
Haven't been able to download them at ALL!
(So much for a quicky for tax season.)
Contacted PayPal and they gave me an 800 number to call next time I was attempting to download.
Never called them.
I don't seem to have very good luck with customer service reps anyways.
Just for kicks, I tried it again, an no go.
Same silly message.
5 years 3 months 6 days worth of data, too.
Answer
So, it seems it works for some people and not for others. How on earth is that happening? I considered calling them, but thought I'd wait it out and see if it was just a temporary glitch. It's going on two weeks now, and still no dice.
I guess I am going to have go in and print every page during the December date range. Can I still do that in the History area? Aiiieeee. What a complete pain.
Answer
I just did a download with no problems.
I chose a Custom Date Range and selected the file type to be "Comma Delimited-All Activity".
Answer
Persistence is key. I don't think the date range you set nor the file type you want to download matters. If it doesn't work once, try again at a different time. If it doesn't work then, try again.
I don't know if you are downloading the log to get at the data, but you might consider using Paypal IPN. It automates the pushing of data from Paypal to a database of your choosing. You need the script, but they can be found for free online or at a minimal cost.

That is exactly what I've tried each time....
Tekgems, thanks for the tips!

Five months of persistence for naught.
STILL doesn't work for me.
Sometimes I choose just a month, or a 6-month period, and sometimes, even the whole dang thang.
Sometimes early in the a.m. (5:30 a.m. EST, middle of the afternoon, late at night - after 11:00 p.m. EST, sometimes on weekends!)
Nada.
I'll check into that IPN.
Answer
Try a different browser and also try erasing your Paypal cookie.
Answer
Hey--I just managed to get it to work. It did not work for me late last night, so I just tried it again this morning.
Instead of requesting the Comma Separated Value file, like I usually do, I switched and requested the Tab Delimited file (with the same date range I had been trying over and over). It worked!!!
Not sure why it wouldn't let me get the .csv vesion, but I'm happy to get the data at all at this point.
