Best catagory for vintage John Deere Manuals

Question
Ok, you paper experts, what would you recomend for the catagory for some 50's John Deere operating manuals.
The one I am looking at would be
Business & Industrial > Farm > Manuals & Books > Repair, Operations Manuals > John Deere > Implement
Thanks in advance.
I looked for a catagor for "damn tractor crap" but didn't find one http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif

Answer
That would be the best place.
Rule of thumb: Always use the category that has the name of the company of the item you wanna sell. COllectors more likely to search the category.
The 'book' categories are useless since its not a reader, but a colllector that will be interested in this. And there is a crucial difference between the two.

Answer
Double Category - the one you mentioned plus:
Collectibles:Advertising:Agriculture:John Deere
John Deere and International Harvester buyers can be fanatical if they want something. If you have early sales catalogs by John Deere put them on too, they can make serious dollars. Both of those categories seem to have built up different groups of buyers. The advertising category was in place long before the Business & Industrial section was established, and some who watch the Advertising:Agriculture categories appear to have never found the other section for Agriculture. It can be well worth the extra listing fee.

Thanks for the tips. I will try the double catagory. Never done that before.
I like parts soooo much better, no need for this fancy double catagory crap http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif

Actually turned out to be 70 unique manuals, with about 30 duplicates for a total of 100.
Some of them are pretty obscure stuff such as Hammer Mills, Cultivators, Power Takeoffs etc. But there are some for combines and Tractors which will probably be more in demand.
I think they are NOS, as they came from a dealer, but were not treated well, still nice, but some wear and soiling. But some are still in the envelopes.
Just finished all the listings, now just have to get them scanned in.
Thanks for the Help Kevin.

Answer
G'day DW,
If you can afford to hold off for two weeks or so, you should see out harvest and farmers who may collect OR use them will be more readily available.....
As discussed here.
Cheers, Kevin

Answer
Kevin,
Thanks for the tip, however I think I will go ahead and list them next week. This will easily give me one relist before Christmas. Literature for cars has generally done real well for us at that time of year. I hope it carries through for farm stuff.
As for our harvest, it is pretty much done. Only a LITTLE corn left in the field. Since snow is on the ground, I would guess that will be harvested very soon.
The thing about farming, is that someone is always going to be in the fields with something, expecially if you consider global seasons, crops and conditions. But I think the majority of the North American crop is either done, or wrapping up.
What doesn't sell now, will get listed in January or Febuary.
What doen't sell then, will get shipped to Australia http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif
Have a great week. DW
