Question
Okay, I don't know how long ago they added an address service to Checkout, but I was never advised that my registration details (NOT my shipping address) would be given to Ebay sellers and I was disgusted a couple of months ago to find that an Ebay purchase had arrived on my doorstep instead of my Post Office Box.
I have since updated my "Checkout" details, and now at least assume that my postal details are supplied to sellers. I NEVER authorised Ebay to give out my registration details (home address), and have no idea how many other people had their privacy (or otherwise) violated by this change in data dispersal, without being advised.
Today I see that my own completed auctions now have a button for "Print Shipping Label". Of course, this is Ebay so there are strings attached, but the other aspect to this, is that your details are now being distributed to a wider array of sellers when you buy, so it would be VERY adviseable to check that your shipping address details are correct - especially if, like me, you never filled in a shipping address when you first registered on Ebay (there was no provision for it at that stage).
Good Luck, Kevin
Answer
Doesn't the checkout process show the shipping address you'll be giving the seller and have you confirm it?
Answer
I have never used Checkout. I always contact the seller directly with my postal address, confirm that I am in Australia if the seller is overseas (the item that arrived on my doorstep was bought within Australia) and confirm that postage may need to be adjusted / or confirm the total of the transaction and which form of payment is my preference. I don't bid on auctions that require payment through a checkout system. I was never aware that Ebay just gave out registration details until that parcel was sent to my home address - and was here when I returned from a four day trip.
