Question
Over the past week I have had two people complain that they didn't receive their items. When I sent them the payment received/shipping/tracking info off of eBay and PayPal they responded "THIS IS NOT MY NAME OR ADDRESS!!!!". The items transaction tracking history show DELIVERED but not to them.
This is the information supplied to me by eBay and PayPal but it apparently wasn't the correct person for the item. Has anyone else had this happen to them. I don't know what to do because I shipped items to the name/address given to me but the buyers want to be compensated for lost items. I can't afford the loss and I didn't make the mistake so what is the answer?
Answer
Um..., that's strange! It hasn't happened to me that I know about! Bet

I've seen threads on ebay where other third party sites had glitches and had bidders bidding and winning another users item that they were going to bid on. You'll never see ebay admit to anything like this though.

Just curious, if this happens and the buyer will not respond to requests for an address, who is deemed to be responsible?. Half of the people who use the "faux" checkout will no longer actually supply their postal address - (ie: I do not have checkout enabled, but I now get emails through Ebay titled "Please send me total amount for item #6172***** - and they have a buyer name and address included near the bottom of the text)
I have already been concerned that some users may have out of date information, but wrong information is possible. Am I liable if I send to a wrong address that is supplied by Ebay, when the buyer just does not supply an address themself?

Hmm
What I have received yesterday was a forwarded email from paypal saying I have shipped your item and it did not show the street address.
My customer was very worried that the street address was also not on the shipping label. I double checked it was on the shipping label but not on the emails that go to the customer saying that an item has been shipped.
Just put the whole address in the email it would make customers feel better grrrrr
Answer
If there is a problem, I am sure eBay/PayPal is working furiously on solving it.
Answer
I wrote her back and asked her to contact both eBay and Paypal why the incorrect information was supplied to the seller. Will be interested in seeing what they tell her or if they will even answer her. So far I haven't heard back.
