Is there something special about this item?

Question
I'm curious as to why the bidding is so high on this. It doesn't have a huge amount of hits and there are still 4 + days left.
Maybe someone here who knows about this stuff can clue me in.

Answer
Any Noritake Art Deco is not easily found and will usually bring the highest prices.
At least that has been my experience.

Considering the value of this handpainted item, it is too bad the seller didn't take a good closeup of the item, as did the second example given. I am sure it would add to the final price. As it is, I would be a little leery of bidding too high on something which is fuzzy and lacking detail. There is more background than item, I would have scanned the actual painted part and Noritake trademark to be sure the buyer could see everything in great detail.
It is a gorgeous piece....from what I can see.

I notice that the opening bidder for 7318051998 (for $21) was the underbidder for cariad's 7315702940 (for $2,265.78). This bidder has a habit of leaving a little marker bid and then coming back later. And there's a bunch of them that aren't afraid to spend money.
More than that we don't need to know.
And I agree, litlux, if it were my listing it would have a much better close-up pix of both the design and the mark.

Answer
Just wanted to clarify that the auction I linked to is not mine, just highest price among the closed Noritake deco auctions. There are some other beauties in there too.
I agree the pics leave a lot to be desired-but I think most ebay hosted pics suck. Very few show any decent detail.

Answer
Thanks for the info. I had no idea people paid so much for this type of stuff.
