Question
why can't I end a listing within 12 hours of closing?
could you please explain to me, when an item gets listed twice because of a glitch/hiccup/error or whatever, -please explain to me why ebay feels the need to set me up for problems by not allowing me to cancel it?
I have a double lisitng I didn't see all week, now I have to babysit it and keep cancelling bids, which makes me look bad and means I can't list much of anything for an hour while I babysit this ad. Any solutions?
can you explain to me how this makes me more money, makes them more money, or is a good thing?
I really am missing the point of this upgrade.....I must be dense.
Answer
I want to know the answer to this too.
I noticed that we had accidently listed something as Denim lapis, when it was in fact regular lapis. I cancelled the bid and tried to cancel the auction. Ebay wouldn't let me. I had put the reason on the auction but when I wasn't looking, the winner came back and bid on it???? What is the thought?

Just one of the reasons that I use for NOT being a listing machine like you sweet cheeks.....
....when you are only running 30 or 40 at a time, you can keep track of the boo~boos!!!
(btw: according to the USPS your box of goodies left Miami customs at 9:17 this morning headed for the frozen tundra. Did you know that the customs number gets picked up so you can track international shipments on the USPS site!???! )
Answer
My speculation is two-fold: buyers complained & ebay thought they might lose a nickel on a sale.
First scenario: Seller sees they aren't getting the price they want, so they cancel the auction. Buyers and snipers find the auction gone & complain.
Second scenario: Bidding gets active & buyer offers seller a price they can't refuse to cancel the auction & sell direct to them. Buyers find the auction cancelled & complain & ebay doesn't get the FVF.
Third scenario: Some sellers might be using the auction as a come on to sell off-line & cancel anytime they find someone willing to buy it directly.
Unfortunately, the result of making this rule is that legitimate needs to cancel get locked in.
IF the reason was that ebay "thought" they had too many auctions being cancelled & were losing out on FVF, they could have set up a tracking system like they do on bid retractions & go after repeat offenders. Could be another of ebay's typical attitude of punish the innocent along with the guilty.
Answer
of course, they could have a system in place for eBay themselves to cancel a transaction AFTER it closes so they can't leave the seller a neg, which I would have to accept, because technically it is my fault. ...i should have seen it, after all I am as perfect as the listing softwares are, right?
At least give us a chance to prove we really did make an error.
Packie, I never worry about tracking until a package has been wandering around for 5 or 6 weeks.....and after all your years in sales.....you never learned the number one rule....JUST DO IT...deal with any errors later
You will hide behind any excuse not to work huh????

Answer
....all you have to do is use on of your other ID's and place a very, very high bid....
Answer
Bill, it appears as that would be a new comers solution.
it would be the easiest, really.
I understand what ebay is trying to do, but they should have something in place for those of us that get caught up in an error, or drop and break something, there should be some system to erase the transaction. ....
and I am not sure that what they conceive as a major problem... is as big a problem as they thought it was, but their sandbox-their rules.

If you do that you're stuck with having to pay listing fees and FVFs on an item that you didn't have to begin with.
