Shipping beer?

Question
My husband and I found a couple of old beer bottles in Grandpa's basement. They are glass bottles with the type of metal cap that needs a bottle opener. They are still full. If we auction them, is it legal to ship them?

Answer
Never mind. I've searched this a couple of times and only found empty bottles/cans. But I just slapped the word "full" next to my search and there are plenty of auctions with full beer bottles/cans. I'm sure they can ship just fine.

Answer
its an ebay violation to sell it, but the chances of someone reporting you are slim.

Answer
I beleive you could run into trouble selling alochual without a licensse
but again they would have to catch you

Answer
You have to state you ar selling the bottle and not the beer.
There is an ebay link about it.
I'll see if I can find it for you.

Answer
Found it.
Collectable Containers
There may be instances where the particular collectible container is unopened and still contains an alcoholic beverage. The sale of collectible containers will be permitted so long as each of the following are met:
* The value of the auctioned item is in the collectible container, not its contents. Thus, bottles of wine are not permitted because their value is based on the wine in the bottle, and not the bottle itself.
* The auction description should state that the container has not been opened, but that any incidental contents are not intended for consumption.
* The item must not be available at any retail outlet, and the container must have a value that substantially exceeds the current retail price of the alcohol in the container.
* Sellers should take steps to ensure that the buyer of these collectibles is of lawful age in the buyer and seller's jurisdiction (generally 21 years old). Buyers and sellers must ensure that the sale complies with all applicable laws and shipping regulations in carrying out the transaction.

Thank you for the replies!
ddhafe, that's perfect! Thank you so much.

Answer
That means you have to ship the product using a service where Adult Signature can be obtained. For Example, UPS Ground with Signature Required, Adult option used. UPS also have requirements if you ship alcohol, but I am not sure how they treat collectibles as opposed to consumable beer or wine.

Answer
Be careful that your state will allow the shipment from your state to others. For example, we bought several bottles of very fine wine from an estate sale. I considered putting them on auction at a wine auction site when I discovered that at least one of them was valued at $1000. No could do as it was illegal within my state for me to ship them without a license. (Texas). The Feds might not take kindly to it so check your state rules.
