Question about Cookies

Question
I think I understand how cookies work, but I still have a nagging question that I'm almost embarrassed to ask, but here goes anyway.
Is there any way to tell what the cookie is being used for by the site who puts it on your computer?
For example, when I look at the here cookies they are all pretty straightforward and I know what they are for, as the names are fairly descriptiive. However, as an example, when I go to Blujay, I get a PHP session cookie when I first access the site, which is fine. However, when I check my listings I get a cookie that says 'ad.' Is there any way to tell what that 'ad' cookie is about, or what information it contains on my computer? Just curious.

Answer
Sometimes if you open the cookie file, you can make some sense of it. Usually not. Unless you have a reason for the cookie, just delete them.
