Question
I got an notice yesterday saying someone is trying to sell a Yamaha motorcycle on my account so they took the auctin off and then suspended my account.
Another email coming they said. Got it and they closed all my auctions and credited my account and for me to contact them. Got ahold of them on Live Help and finally after 24 hours and numerous chats I got my account back.
I had bids on half my auctions and now nothing. You would think ebay could save the auctions with bids and ask me about them before they trashed them. I have no way of getting ahold of the bidders and letting them know what happened so they don't think I'm a nasty seller. I did get and question form a bidder on an item that did not have a bid so they are now waiting for the auction to go back up.
What a PITA !!!!!
Answer
That's a huge bummer. Sorry to hear that.
Answer
I'm so sorry that happened to you, what a PITA. Just shows it can happen to anyone.
Answer
This is the first time in 7 years I've had any trouble.
I have had the same password all that time but a couple of weeks ago I changed it and this is what happened.

Exactly how did you go about changing it?
And what prompted you to change it after 7 years?
Answer
Everyone on the boards I visit are always saying you need to change your passwords every 3 to 6 months and so I thought I better do it at least once. I know of a few who got hacked so I decided to change it. I had no numbers just letters and then I changed it and put in both and got hacked.
To change it on ebay you go to your My ebay page and on the left there is a link with your personal info and you change it there.
Answer
Well, it sounds like you got hacked when you changed your password. So there are a few possibilities... one is that you have a logger trojan on your computer, and another is that you thought you were at eBay, but got phished. Is your virus program up to date?
Answer
My first thought was a keystroke virus, too or one of those newer ones that can fool you when you type in a site and take you to a fake one already set up. Can't remember the details but found a little info when I had my problems a few weeks ago.

Answer
I have Norton and it is up to date and I never click on any links tht are sent by email. If I don't know who it is I delet it. I ran the virus scan and it came up with nothing.
Answer
Would not a keystroke virus have gotten you anytime you signed in at eBay?
Why would they have waited until you changed your password?
I hope you find out how this happened because it sounds like you take all the expected precautions and still got hacked.
That eBay stopped the hacker's listing is good and what we are entitled to expect but closing all auctions is not acceptable.
As more people use Stores the auto reflex of closing everything could be a disaster for customer relationships, lost income and the work involved to relist.
They have to improve service in working with customers.
