Its not a big nightmare, but a real pain just the same.
Shipped goods to customer back in December. She paid in November, but order was custom so took 2 weeks just to make it all up. Package goes wandering around all over the place. She gets mad, emails me beginning of January that she has done a chargeback on her credit card. Now she didn't do it through paypal, but through her credit card company.
Package arrives a few days after she did that. She emails that the package made it and she has withdrawn the chargeback.
Yesterday I get an email from Paypal that there is a chargeback issued on this transaction and I have 3 days to respond. When I hit the resolve button, of course none of the choices apply to me.
I email my customer and ask her why paypal is doing the chargeback (especially since it has been at least 4 weeks since this issue was closed).
She just emails paypal and tells them goods were received and she had already cancelled the chargeback with her credit card company.
Been a day and haven't heard from paypal. But none of the options apply, so I am hanging here. Amount is $188US.
I looked at the contact number, but is that 402-935-2080 one the number that takes you to someone in India?
I looked up their regular phone numbers and am wondering if I am better to call those, or will I just play press the button tag with the telephone.
Any of you guys had to contact paypal over one of these stupid charge back resolutions?

I've used their customer service before, and like any customer service, it's the luck of the draw... get someone who is knowledgable and intelligent, and you can get your issue resolved. Get a newbie numbskull and you are SOL. Keep calling back until you get someone who seems to know what they are doing.... don't let the newbie numbskull handle your issue.

Best to set a dollar limit for yourself when it comes to P.P. Anything over xxxnumber of dollars use bidpay or postal M.O. only.
Problem is that if its custom work and then take in shipping time some people just have no clue.
Chargeback seems to be the battle cry if the goods are not there over night and you wind up with the headaches.
This may not be over as yet with paypal.

Well, I called Paypal.
Got a semi-intelligent human being, but not that it helped me any.
Since my customer did you chargeback through her credit card company (BofA) she has to contact them again since they have already taken the money from paypal.
I emailed my customer, she got back to me within 15 minutes with a copy of her email from B0fA stating that they would be reversing the chargeback.
So at least she got right on it herself and hopefully I will hear from paypal in the next day that this money will be returned to my account.
As much as I would love to get rid of paypal, without it sales would drop. The competition in the horse section is viscious, and although my stuff is unique, the "I want it now" syndrome of the internet makes it impossible not to take Paypal. I do have my own merchant accounts, but people seem more at home with Paypal for some reason than giving their credit card number to a person in another country.
Third party services such as paypal can be wonderful until something goes wrong (such as this). Makes it tougher to resolve issues.
Anyway, looks like this one will work out.
