Question
I have been preparing to list over 1800 monogram stencils, made of very thin copper. They were used to trace the monogram prior to embroidery in Germany. I've got over 1000 up already, should get the rest up this week.
Because I have so many, I've put them in alphabetical order, and decided to list them under a 3rd ID, since I can't imagine putting them all up under the other 2 ID's that already have tons of stuff.
Now my problem is getting the word out. I've sent information to my mailing list of course, and we'll be adding links in our auction texts and on the website.
They're in an eBay Store so they don't show up in searches. But it was the most cost effective way to do this.
What else do you suggest? Can I put some kind of message as a 'do not bid' auction under my other 2 ID's, or would eBay frown on that? Can I put a 'do not bid, information only' auction up under the ID they are listed on?
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions!
Mimi

Answer
why not pull a couple and list them on the other ID's with a notation to go see the other 1800 in the "store"....
well worth the money IMO.
I don't think ebay would have a problem with that, would they?

Hi Mimi. I just looked at your monogram auctions.....had to give up,though. There is no way for me to choose which letter I need....perhaps you could somehow group them by first letter?...the only way for me to get to a letter later in the alphbet is to continue hitting "next page" at the bottom....after page 34 (brought me to the "D"'s),the option was only one page at a time....perhpas I am stupid and there is an easier way to find what I need....

Mimi,
I just took a look at your stencils and I have a couple of questions/comments.
When you say the stencils are a certain size (in inches), do you mean the copper rectangle is that size or the largest letters on a given rectangle?
Are there more than one set of letter sizes on each copper piece? I think I'm a dunce about this, but I just can't figure it out...
And the powder is called pouncing powder and is often dispensed in a pouncing bag....

Hi gm8549 - You could try using the 2 letters you are searching for and the word copper in the eBay Store Search.

Mimi, have you thought of using an eBay banner ad? A friend of mine used such an ad successfully to draw people to certain items in her store.
You decide on the keyword search which will trigger your banner ad at the top and also decide how much money you want to spend (say $50) and then you are charged per click through until all the money is spent. You can experiment with different keywords to see which ones are most effective as eBay provides statistics as to how many saw your banner ad and how many actually clicked on it.

Hi Mimi. Someone on the eBay Stores Board has written an HTML code that generates clickable thumbnail photos for cross-linking auction listings with store items. She provided a link to this neat tool so everyone can use it. The cross-linking idea works like a gallery and the thumbnails from your store or other auctions can be added to your auction listing. Here's the thread:

Here's one of her auctions where you can see the thumbnails on the left but you can put them anywhere you want: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3430309569
