Question
Hi
I know that there is ups and downs with everything, when it comes to eBay, people say that march is slowest, but I was doing very well, maybe a fluke?
Now it's April, I'm doing so so.
So the question is:
1. Is April usually the worst month?
2. What do you guys do that works when it's starting to be slow and your sales say dropped from 12 items a day to 3-0 item sales a day?
Cheers
Answer
Don't quit your day job.
April is tax season. Everything is slow except for taxes.
Answer
Oh so tax season is slowest usually?
Answer
It picks up after people start getting their tax returns.
Answer
I find from late july thru early oct to be the slowest
Answer
I guess it's tme to stock up on ramen then... if they won't be buying anything until tax return time...
Answer
Between March madness, taxes, and start of the NBA playoffs, traffic drops. Then you hit the summer doldrums. In other words, basically slow all year except for certain seasonal buying. Depending upon what you are selling, you have different seasons.
Answer
Yup, sure is slow these days. Then again, eBay is a roller coaster so we will be on the upswing again in a week or two.
To make matters worse for me, eBay collected their fees "early" this month. It drained my Paypal account and screwed my cash flow.
My only big sale this week (so far) came from Belgium. Thank god for international business. I did cut back on my listings this week and am glad I did. Hate those "item didn't sell" notices.

Answer
It really all depends on what you sell.
Antique toys sell high year round and for me Western, Civil War and Native American stuff sells year round.
Answer
Again, it does depend on what you're selling. Books will do okay year round, but I'm more likely to pull out the fluffy fiction closer to summer, and the textbooks/homeschool books in August.
If you're doing clothing, you should probably be selling the bathing suits in April and the sweaters in October. That kind of thing.
The only difference I notice in my sales from month to month is the amount of work I put into it. I have hardly anything listed this week, so my sales aren't nearly as good as last month.
