Question
Since I ship media rate, (I sell books) all of my boxes are stamped Return Service Req.
Undeliverable Media mail won't be returned without a guarantee of return postage paid.
So, the box is marked "unclaimed" and I pay the $3.50 to get the box back from my rural delivery guy.
I don't want to have to open it up, I want to just re-ship as is after I find out the who-what.
I search my recent sales to find out which customer so I can contact them & see what happened. Hmmm. No hit for the last 2 months on either name or address. So I look at the original postage stamp.
This box was mailed 1 December! Where the heck has it been for almost 4 months? The buyer never contacted me when it didn't show. And she was slow to pay, so the auction is actually from early Nov.
I wonder if the ones I DID hear about (lost) in January are going to show back up in May?

Answer
I bought a book and paid right away, the buyer left feedback for me so I knew she received the payment. I waited a month, no book. I emailed her and the response was " media mail is slow, please be patient". After 4 months I gave up and bought another copy of the book at the store. I received the first book six months after the sale. Where was it all that time? Only the PO knows.
Answer
If one uses the USPS shipping assistant, one can put delivery confirm on the shipment for only 13 cents. Sometimes useful for media mail.
Also, I think media mail already have return postage guarantee. I think BPM is the class that does not.
