Question
I haven't listed on eBay for a while, but tonight I listed an item with a BIN over $299.00. When the listing was posted what did my wandering eyes discover, but a completely unwanted ad posted in my listing offering low monthly payments to buyers.
I don't want that in my listing, nor do I want potential buyers hauled off to Paypal site (which hung for 4 minutes when I clicked the link to see what the heck was going on) to fill out a credit application. How dare they hijack a potential buyer and truck them off to their own Paypal site. The customer is shopping at my listing and first thing you know, off they go to Paypal. Does eBay even consider having a link to Paypal open in a separate window so that at least the auction listing stays visible. Not on your life. No one at eBay has figured out how to do this yet and even if they did, I still don't want that *&$%#$&* financing option in MY listing. I am really ticked over this. I simply can't believe it, especially after I clicked the NO button to all financing options.
Answer
You need to check your listing settings. That option is available only if you select it.

I see now that I have to go in an edit my paypal options. I haven't sold anything on ebay for a long time, and certainly not high ticket items, so this was quite a shock. I don't ever remember selecting that option in the first place, but I must have done so or it wouldn't be there. Would it?
Even so, if eBay is going to offer that option as a paypal choice then they should still at least have the decency to open a new window when a buyer clicks for more information rather than taking them away from the listing to Paypal. Is this too much to ask?
Answer
I am not sure how it all works since I do not use PayPal in selling. Also, I am not sure what listing software you use. But I think one can select which auctions has that display for payment over time via PayPal.
I believe there is also a charge for the service if selected by winning buyer.
Answer
Are you using Turbo Lister? Every time I update the ti=hing, it changes all my settings to the most advantageous for eBay (ie listing designer, etc). I noticed that financing thang there too.
Just a thought ...
