Question
I'm new to Ebay and need some advice on how to get buyers to leave feedback. I've had 8 successul auctions and only 3 of the buyers have left feedback. I've already mentioned FB is appreciated both in the EOA email as well as their shipping invoice. Any help would be appreciated.
Answer
HI and welcome to here!!
Feedback - that can be frustrating, but it is a fact of life, don't feel like you are alone in this. I've left 3298 and only received 2372.
Are you leaving them feedback? Some people find it helpful to wait a few days after shipping before you leave them feedback. Then when they get it from you it reminds them to leave it.
I don't leave feedback till the customer tells me they are satisfied or they leave me feedback, but that is just my way and lots of sellers feel strongly that their way is better.
That's my rambling response, hope it is helpful, and if not someone else should be along shortly with a different opinion.
Welcome again
Answer
Thanks Sandy,
I leave feedback before I ship their item, usually right after i recieve payment
Answer
I don't know if there is a secret to getting people to leave feedback. I do it both ways...sometimes I leave it first, sometimes I wait. It really depends on how busy I am and my mood. I don't even mention feedback in my auctions or my EOA's, so that isn't a factor for us either.
We have two ID's and the feedback ratio on them isn't the same, but I don't do anything different between the two. LOL
The first one has left 344 and received 254.
The second one has left 83 and received 75.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Answer
In my "Item shipped" emails I have this line:
"I hope you are happy with your purchase. Let me know when it arrives safely and I'll complete my end of the sale by leaving feedback. "
It seems to help as most people will just leave feedback as their way of letting me know the item has arrived safely and there are no problems. If I don't hear from them, I usually leave feedback every couple of weeks.

I wish there was one magic answer to getting folks to leave feedback. I too place a small message in with our shipping notice that we will leave fb as soon as we know that the item has been received and that they are happy and satisfied with their purchase. We have given 1981 feedbacks and received 1495 feedbacks.

I generally leave feedback the day of shipment with their shipment date in the FB... It has greatly helped tossing a business card inside their packages and thanking them as well for their purchase including all my stats on ebay and for the most part my buyers leave FB within a week or so... Hope this might give you some more insight into the FB whirlwind...
Answer
Sometimes it's just the little things you do that encourages your customer to leave you feedback. Here's a PDF file that you can print out and use if you like.
We will be including this in the Auction Resource Center for everyone to access long term.

Answer
Try to build up your total feedback number by doing some buying on eBay as well. The items don't have to be expensive and seeing how other sellers handle e-mails, packing and shipping is a great learning experience that will help you as a seller. Choose sellers that you know habitually leave feedback. To find that out, check out a seller's feedback page and click on the tab called "Left for Others".
Answer
I have a bidder now that when I checked her feedback she had a rating of 87. When I checked her "left for others" she had only left one, which was a negative.
I do check to see if the high bidder leaves feedback. If they do, I will leave feedback about a week after I ship or sooner if I hear from them. Sometimes they leave feedback first.
