Question
Browing eBay, I opened an auction and it started talking to me. Since the window was under another one first, it startled me....is this talking auction thing something new? I've never seen one before.

You can see this particular auction here:

What would your reaction be to an auction that had this type of sales pitch in it? I'm not sure what I think about it yet.

PS. I have no association with the auction or seller.

Answer
I was all prepared to hate it because I really, really do not like music on auctions and have been startled several times with loud noise from "creative" sellers. But that auction's voiceover was not too bad. I would rather not hear it but didn't actually hate it. Sure wouldn't pay to put it in my auctions.

Answer
i hate music being played, but this was fine, and i didnt find it annoying.

Answer
It covers the "non reading" auction buyers.
For about 30 seconds after it my whole sytstem was frozen & I had just recently rebooted. I will admit my puter is hanging on by its fingernails. It works well but doesn't need surprises.

Answer
The unexpected music would be annoying to someone who is quietly browsing at their workplace.

Answer
I kind of liked it! It was there in the background while I was looking at all her pctures. Pretty neat!

Answer
Forcing these sorts of things on potential buyers may well turn off more of them than a seller knows. I am a firm believer that singing and dancing additions to an auction should be offered, not forced.
I have been thinking about adding clickable links to play excerpts from the CD's I sell, but I would never just include the music. To begin with, people have different plug-ins and software, so which version to choose? By making it optional I could include a dial-up and a broadband link, plus various formats from Real Player to Quicktime.
I think eventually one of the paid auction services will provide an easy way to do this as part of their bundle of optional services. I find it too big a challenge to do by all by myself at this point.
