Subject: Free shipping supplies
Shelly in the ebayspamfreedealers group recommended
this site a few weeks ago. It is so useful!
http://www.freecycle.org/
I found a local chapter in my town and posted a request for packing
peanuts. Yesterday afternoon I drove around town and all together picked
up 8 huge garbage bags of free packing peanuts from people who were
trying to get rid of them. And that's from only half of the people
who offered. Now I just have to get enough orders to use up all my
packing materials!
Given that styrofoam is bad for the environment, it makes a lot of
sense to keep recycling styrofoam peanuts.
You can probably pick up a lot of other free packing supplies from
people using freecycle.org - not to mention a lot of other items!
---------------------
The worldwide Freecycle™ Network is made up of many individual groups
across the globe. It's a grassroots movement of people who are giving
(& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is
run by a local volunteer moderator (them's good people). Membership
is free. To sign up, find your community by clicking on the region on
the right. It will generate an automatic e-mail which, when sent,
will sign you up for your local group and send you a response with
instructions on how it works. Or, go directly to the Web site for
your local group by clicking on your community's link on the left.
Can't find a group near you? You might want to consider starting one
Have fun!

Answer
I got two humongous bags of peanuts through freecycle. I didn't even posta request, someone posted a offer for them and I jumped on it. I'm in need again.....
Answer
Thanks for the great idea! We just started a freecycle group in our town, and people are recycling all kinds of stuff that they would have used to toss away.
Answer
I also had nothing but good experiences with Freecycle.
Answer
I recently signed up for our local group as well. I've not posted on it yet, but I have some things in mind when the weather breaks.
Answer
We have gotten packing peanuts (besides the ones I bring home from work!) and kid's computer games, a hand painted toilet seat, (It's cool!) The computer desk from Ikea I am using right now, lots of books, (and other items I can't recall at the moment!)
It's also great for cleaning house! We gave away our old turntable and all our records, an inflatable raft that's been in the garage for YEARS, lots of (other) books, a can of paint stripper we decided not to use, and more that I have forgotten.
The only drawback is having to sift through so many posts. I think they should dissallow "Wanted" posts, IMO it kind of spoils the fun of it, and when I respond to those, the wanters never show up! Otherwise the other Freecyclers have been great too. I highly recommend it.
Answer
I just joined my local group. Sounds good.
Answer
I just signed up for my local group. I would much rather give stuff we don't need to someone that does, than toss it to the curb. And someone might just have something we want but don't want to part with money for. Looking forward to get my first e-mail! I've got LOTS of stuff I could unload
Answer
I had to stop my subscription to that group because it was too depressing. It was like a person would post, "I've set my trash out and there might be some paper cups in it," and the next thing you know someone would have taken it.
