Question
Ok, this is probably a really really dumb question, BUT, it's one that keeps bothering me....
Payments to me made via Paypal come with a "Notification of Instant Payment from blah, blah, blah"....The email contains all the specifics of the sale (so far, so good)...I reply back to the buyer with a "Payment Received" email, which includes a "Thank you" and a notice on when/how the item will be shipped...(still ok)....The QUESTION (are ya still with me or did I put ya to sleep?) IS: there is a section in the PP notification:
This email confirms that you have received a $xx.xx USD from eBay ID (buyers email addy).
View the details of this transaction here: really long number here
When I forward that, are the links active?...IOW, am I giving the buyer a link to MY PAYPAL account/information???
Knowing the answer to this question will really ease my mind....
TIA
Thanx
me
Answer
You don't have to worry. The link would simply take them to the paypal log in screen.
I've had customers forward me their copy of the paypal receipt wanting me to check the link, and of course I can't as its a link to their paypal account.
So don't worry. I do the same, always reply to the paypal email to let them know I got their payment.

Don't miss their point in providing the link, though, which is:

If you don't verify the payment by logging into PayPal, you're just taking it for granted that the "notification" isn't home-grown. Many sellers have been duped into shipping unpaid goods by scammers' forged "notification" emails.
