Question
That's what Matt at FAS is talking about doing... merely a day after Wagglepop disappeared from the internet, now Matt of FAS is holding a vote on whether the Wagglepop forum, and all of it's content, should be deleted or locked and archived.
The vote ends at 8pm tonight, and it's running very close right now.
So out of curiosity, how would it go over if Jim were to delete the Wagglepop threads here at here?
Please vote. The choices are the same ones Matt is giving at FAS.
***(Please Note: Jim has not said anything about deleting the Wagglepop threads, and I think it's safe to assume he won't. This is purely hypothetical)
Answer
I just posted a fuller reaction to this "Matt-book-burning" folly in the lengthy WP thread. In summary, THIS is the Kool-Aid drinking. We've never seen it before like this, really. All the cultists and dupes, including Matt, go for purple lips and oblivion. Irresponsible, cowardly, shameful.
Right on, Toy.
Answer
I can't imagine Jim ever suggesting such a thing. He'd be skewered on a spit if he did...
But at FAS, where lots of folks have embarassed themselves by supporting Ray, with Matt himself at the head of the pack, some of them want to sweep it under the rug and play like it never happened.

I believe in democracy, and that's why I've started this poll/thread.
1) 8pm (central time) tonight I will end this poll, and take the appropriate action ASAP according to poll results.
Do you suppose that, should such a vote be taken, matt would permanently suspend a poster if a majority of votes were in favor of that course of action?
Answer
I don't know Matt, nor his agenda so this is an unbiased opinion.
I think he did a very good thing in allowing WP to hang around over there as long as he did, I can't say in all honesty I would have allowed it to get like that if it was my board.
That being said....here a great foundation, good history, and stand back and take an objective look at that thread, it was carried out in a professional and polite way, the only obstinance came from the executive of WP itself and a few cheerleaders.....other than that there is nothing serious that reflects poorly on this board. ....except maybe the soap opera mentality, winter entertainment tongue in cheek sarcastic fun posts
no need to delete it, or even censor it, it is nothing like that excess filthy cargo over at FAS....yes there is some good stuff in there at FAS, but there is so much nastiness and name calling it all gets lost. Maybe someone could do an objective synopsis for Matt to replace all that crapola. Matt's board is his, it is relatively new isn't it, and if he wants to sweep it under the rug, go for it, no harm done. It is not up to him to store historical data just because some one might need it some day to prove something.
if another Troy type personality comes along, you guys will remember all this, and someone somewhere will have all this recorded for prostarity.
I didn't vote because I don't think it should be deleted or locked, if you locked it, where would we all play?
Answer
I would prefer a 3rd option (leave the forum as is) but I voted for locking it, NOT deleting, for the reasons I've already mentioned in the long azz WP thread.
People have tried to change history in the past, like Gegy closing their forum and then trying to have the Google links removed, but to no avail because there's always someone who remembers the true facts. The forum deletion reminds me of unpleasant censoring actions like book burnings.
Matt doesn't have any reason to feel bad about supporting WP and I see no good reason to delete the WP forum. I do however see lots of valid reasons for preserving it, at least until any negative ramifications due to WP have had time to surface. If problems do arise, I seriously doubt Matt will have any legal liability for simply hosting the forum.

There is no third choice so I can't vote-neither action on the poll is something I'd vote for.
Answer
Jim wouldn't ask, he would just do what he thought was right.
We could squeal all we wanted and it wouldn't change a thing.
That WP forum is not what Matt thought it was going to be, he has done his best to keep the lid on, yet be fair.
If he's entirely sick of it, and wants it to go away. Then hey its his board, his right.
Ray owed his customers more, I just don't see how Matt owes anymore than he's given.
PS he has already said he would keep a private copy if he deletes it, it just won't be open to the public.
Answer
In case some legal issues come up (and I hope they don't), I think there should be a copy of all relevant threads kept somewhere for public viewing, even if we can't post to it.
Answer
There are many lessons to be learned from the WagglePop episode, and for that reason I think it should be archived, available to see, though locked so there is no further content.
