PayPal Won't Stop Harrasing Me

Question
I constantly get emails from PayPal saying that an someone has sent me payment using their credit card and I need to upgrade to accept it. I go in and deny it because I do not want to pay them a fee for all of my transaction just because I get to accept credit cards on a few transactions. I figure it this way. If I upgrade and sell 20 items for total of $500 through PayPal it cost me almost $20 to accept the payment from the one person who PayPal let use a credit card.
So I have to write my buyers and explain to them why I denied their payment. Why PayPal allowed them to send it in the first place if I don't accept credit cards. Why I don't accept credit cards. How the fees work. And a host of other problems it brings up.
Most sellers are understanding once you have sent two or three emails answering all their questions. Occasionally a problem is caused, sometimes even ending in a NPB.
I cannot find anywhere in the preferences to automatically block credit cards transactions. I have emailed PayPal several times about this and they either respond with a form "this is our policy, for more information click here to follow the link to.." or they just don't respond at all.
I know that PayPal does things that way so they can try to pressure there users into upgrading. I had a Premier account before and all the fees in the end were really eating up my profits because I am not a high volume seller.
If you have an answer for me please email me direct at yw8jump at aol.com because I don't often check the boards.

Have a look at your auctions. Has PayPal inserted a logo which says above it "After purchasing, pay instantly with your credit card through PayPal!"? That's the standard logo that is inserted.
If so, I suggest you remove PayPal as one of your payment options so the logo doesn't show up. Inside your auction you could say that you accept PayPal only if payment is made from existing PayPal balances and not by using a credit card. I have seen a number of auctions with this comment. Be sure to repeat this comment in your end-of-auction e-mails.

i think it's costing you sales.if it was me i would drop the service completely instead of confusing and frustrating your customers.
the service is there to be conveinient for both the buyer and the seller.if it is not working for either one what is the point of using it?

Answer
yeah i dont know what you sell but if i switched to e-checks only i would surely get a huge drop in business, or get an influx of calls. I would venture to say accepting credit cards and the requisite increase in sales would more than outweigh the percentage you pay. I guess it wouldnt make sense if you were selling dollar items, but if you are selling dollar items maybe you should look into selling something a bit more expensive where the fees dont matter. I am in the 60-150 range and almost everyone uses paypal, with like 3 e-checks a month on 20k revenue.

About Paypal fees. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...s/icon_eek.gif I know if I do not accept Paypal I would sell Little to nothing. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_frown.gif As it is now I may receive about 3 checks/money orders a month. Everyone uses Paypal for my items. You may want to rethink your options.

Answer
What if I up my S&H fee but offer a discount for payments by services other than PayPal?
Something like,
"I accept payments by money order, Payingfast.com and PayPal. Payments by method other than PayPal recieve a 3% discount."

Answer
ok, this is what I am posting in my auctions
"I accept U.S. payments through PayPal, PayingFast.com, certified check or money order. Payments made by Payingfast.com, certified check or money order recieve a 3% discount off your winning bid."
If anyone knows of a reason I am not allowed saying that on ebay speak up

If you don't have the time to read the boards, I do not have the time to post some helpful suggestions.
This is a very rude statement to those of us who try to help.
There are a number of factual errors in your post (like Paypal charging for all transactions, not only the ones they process). And your proposed statement can get you in trouble.
