How not to be sarcastic when replying to "Ask the Seller" questions

Question
Hi everyone, haven't been here in sooooo long.
I am noticing that the "ask a seller" questions I am getting tend to be "hi, how much is your buy it now" when it is not a Buy it Now auction. "Would you consider selling it directly to me?" (isn't that circumventing fees or something like that?)... I don't remember getting these so often before they started posting questions/answers in the auction page.
I have a really hard time not being sarcastic. I have to erase and re-write my reply like 3 times. It's not a problem with legitimate questions, "what kind of zipper" type questions don't get me.
If it was a buy-it-now auction it would have a buy-it-now, wouldn't it? If I wanted to sell it directly to the first person who asked, than wouldn't that be a buy-it-now auction as well? They just seem to be no-brainers.

Answer
and BTW, I used to have like 200 something posts, did they get refreshed to zero when the site changed ?

Answer
Heyyyy! how weird I was just thinking of you the other day - wondering if you had stayed off coffee (I quit recently and I remember the thread when you were working on ditching the brew) so it's veryyyy cool to see you checking in

How ya been? (fill in the blank)

Your posts did start at "0" with the board switchover, there was a thread in (town hall?) to get your old post count re-instated but not sure if thats still live - or when it'll be done since mine's not been updated yet (but Jims been very super busy so I'm letting it slide. FOR NOW)

And in response to your post-topic:
Don't ask me, sistah! I gave up trying to figure out where some eBayrs put their brains. I guess just write your "sarcasta-draft" in notepad and get it outta your system then do up a sanitary reply for your actual email.

Nice to see ya, stick around!

Answer
YES! I have pretty much stayed off coffee! It is now more of a "treat" like the occassional weekend latte, but when i do have one - ZING BAM WOW, Watch out everyone, I am like a FERRET! I mostly drink herbal teas now. It is a much happier place for me being that I was already the most hyper kid on the block. It's kinda freaky to make a pot of starbucks every morning at work, and smell it brewing and not have any.... weird!!
Your reply made me giggle.... lol

Answer
Hi.
Today I got this one
"Dear fonze,
I am looking for a new CPK doll named Taylor. Do any of your dolls have that name..Thank you"
By the way in case you were wodering, I do not answer such silly things.

Answer
cheez,
Those 'stupid' questions are from your MOST potentially valuable customers.
Those who would prefer to deal direct with you and AVOID EBAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Screw that pink BULLSH!T about 'fee avoidance'. These are folks who realize that YOU are the seller and NOT eBay and prefer to deal direct.
They can easily turn into repeat customers or browsers of your web site if you have one.
Some are bottom feeders, and want massive discounts on 2 dollar items.
Many, such as myself, simply prefer to deal direct whenever possible when buying.
And when selling I usually respond with cuts on shipping (or even free shipping), and rarely dicker with price.

Answer
You mean like the person who offered me 75.00 this morning to end this auction early? I just said no, but I would welcome their bid

I didn't want to sell them, but they ended the promotion too early for me

Answer
Easiest way to avoid being sarcastic is to reply in a dead language. Latin would be a good choice.
By the way, a lot of those emails are bogus. They are just phishing for email addresses and what nots.

Hi Cheezy! LTNS!! How's your little niece? And the BF? Job? Details, we want details!!

Answer

Hello Maison! Cindy is doing awesome, here's a current pic:

The job is great, more and more responsibilities and I still love it here.
The bf is not doing so well, he never fully recovered from his fusion surgery and is in constant pain. It's very sad. But we try to keep our chins up, it could be worse, as I know from personal experience!!
I haven't really been selling much on eBay these days, I took on a new hobby of video (film & edit) and spend so many hours doing that I don't have time to list much anymore!
