eBay cost chart

Question
Here is a chart I've found that is the best visual table for eBay Fees I've seen(inclusive of PayPal):eBay Chart
Many sellers don't know what the cost of doing business really is. The chart, of course, doesn't reflect it all...but its a good start.
Cost as a percentage of sale's price is also provided.
eBay cost chart

Answer
Yes, that is a great chart. There was also some previous discussion on this subject in the thread Neat eBay/Paypal Fee Calculator about a month ago where this one and a couple more fee calculators were linked to.

Answer
If you take out the gallery fee, the chart clearly shows PayPal is about 50% of the combine eBay listing and FVF or about 1/3rd of the total cost. That's not factoring the extra percent for International sales.
So whenever you someone complain about an eBay fee increase, just ask them if they take PayPal and how they can easily save 1/3rd of the fees.

Answer
It is still tough to judge, because it doesn't account for your total cost in fees taking in unsold items, that may still have listing and gallery fees.
And the stores chart doesn't account for someone like me that will have 10 items in a listing, so it only costs me 3 cents with listing and gallery to list all 10 for the month. If I sell 4 of them, that is down to less than a penny each in listing and gallery fees.
But it is very hard to come up with any kind of actual costing chart that could incoroporate all the possibilies. Too many variables.

Answer
I think when it comes down to the nitty gritty its still cheaper to sell on ebay than start your own website. With your own website your usually expected to have your own merchant account $50 p/m plus say 2.5% per transaction. Hosting isn't cheap if you want enough bandwidth. Say $20 for full service. Plus advertising plus register.com fees plus web designer fees. PLus ppl expect different things from you.
My website did well but was not as cost effective as ebay. Much much more chargebacks as a % of total sales no forum for communication etc etc.

S/H/Ins

Answer
No, it does not factor in S&H and Ins...though S&H and Ins are not part of an eBay cost to you. It does state that "The PayPal cost is actually higher because any shipping charged and paid with PayPal is not included in this spreadsheet." Any S&H and Ins charged by you to your customer is irrelevant to eBay as they only take part of the sales price. HOWEVER, PayPal takes part of the sales price and ALSO part of what you charge for S&H and Insurance (if PayPal is the method of payment). So, as the charts say "your PayPal cost is actually higher" than what is represented.

Answer
PayPal:
Also not factored in is the current 1.5% cash back using the PayPal debit card. I use my PayPal card for eBay fees, postage, groceries, gas...where ever I can. Just be careful not to use your PIN number or get zero back.
Also not factored is the coming end of the grandfatehred PayPal rates, and the volume tiers.
Really no way to chart as the variables are many.
Too bad new users will get only 1%.

Answer
I was actually thinking that some people include an amount in their S/H rates to cover eBay or Paypal fees...
The cashback on the debit card, the store referral credits, many different factors that can change the numbers one way or another.
Its a good general starting place though.
