Question
Just received email, subject: ebay Money Request Cancelled
I looked at it... it has no item number. I cannot match the amount up to any sold item in "My Ebay", nor can I find anything about it, at paypal, when I logged straight into my account.
On the message from, they have copied part of my shipping terms.

In the email, there is a link to click on, supposedly to take me to the "updated details of this Ebay money request".
Help?
Answer
Surely someone has a clue?? I've never gotten an email like this, with so little info... since Ebay has been deleting the email addys, I can't go back to try to match the sender email against "my page" -- they are deleting them what... after 14 days?
Answer
The fact that there are no details, except for a link, strongly suggests the e-mail isn't legitimate. What the heck is a "money request" anyway?
Why not forward the e-mail to spoof*paypal.com?
Answer
By the way, I often can tell spoofs supposedly from eBay or PayPal, without reading the e-mails. In my preferences on both eBay and PayPal, I have selected to receive notifications in plain text instead of in html format. So, if I receive an e-mail supposedly from eBay or PayPal in html format, I know immediately it's not legitimate because I see all the html coding.
Answer
I forwarded it to paypal alittle while ago. I've went back again, through paypal records... Ebay feedback left, feedback due, items sold....
The (alleged) senders email addy is something like
"a letter" then "a month" then "a year" at aol.com
I checked Ebay for contact info... it comes back that the user has feedback of 121, but won't tell me anything else...
According to my paypal records, I had ONE transaction (purchase) during that month & year.
A scam in the making, maybe, or a security breach? Bothersome that the email had a portion of my shipping terms off my about me page, and my real name -- my name is nowhere on Ebay.
More than a bit worrisome. Hubs side wing window was smashed out a couple weeks ago... all they took was a box of papers we needed to do taxes.
