Question
I don't by a lot online, 90% of the things I have bought have come from ebay.
I cruise some of the auction sites that come up here in threads. But once the thread is over I usually don't ever go back.
If I come home with the serious idea of buying something, I check ebay because I know it will be there, I'm registered at ebay, and I know how ebay's systems work.
Theres been a lot of talk about selling on other auction sites, I'm wondering if people have started to try buying on other sites.
What auction sites have you bought from, and would you recomend it?
Answer
Ok Doofy here are several sites I like to buy at
Romahawk ------- Books and Movies
QuicklySell ------- Video Games
Bidville ----------- Sports Trading Cards
SYI (Now Dead) -- Jewelry
Ebay ------------- Hate to say it but anything I can't buy at one of the smaller sites I look for it here but it's the last stop on my list not the first. I don't mind spending a bit of time and a few cents more if I can find it somewhere else though.
Answer
First off, I mainly sell online. I don't buy very often.
When I do, I normally start with ebay checking prices, etc.
I have bought on yahoo, sellyouritem, and golds.
I guess you can say, I don't venture too far ..........
Answer
I buy often. I'm not interested in any auction site other than Ebay. If I don't buy on Ebay, I look at Froogle and shop web sites.
Answer
I've been trying to support other sites recently. I have been buying off eBay, but I try to look at at least one other site before I go there. I have actually purchased items at:
Overstock.com (and bid on things I didn't win)
Aquabid.com (aquarium and fish stuff)
Bidville.com
ioffer.com
Froogle searches too - that's how I found Aquabid.
I'm also listing my items on other sites before I list them on eBay. SO far I haven't sold anything. I sell mostly eclectic garage sale stuff from around my house. eBay seems to be the only venue so far where that stuff moves, but I'm still bound to try to help somebody give them a little competition. I don't hate eBay, but I think that we would all benefit from having more than one option.

indyattic - looking for OVerstock networking invites from hereN's. Check eBay for my FB if you're wondering...
Answer
As far as AUCTION sites other than eBay: Yahoo and a couple of specialty (postcard) sites. I've bought a lot of stuff online, but rarely from an AUCTION site other than eBay.
Answer
I have wanted to purchase at other auction sites. It always seems the prices at other auction sites are higher than what I can find on eBay, sometimes they are higher than what I could find by shopping an online store.
I have wondered if sellers are starting their items higher because they do not get multiple bids like on eBay.

You hit the nail on the head. On most all small sites multiple bids are a rarity. Most sellers know this and price the item at the lowest price they think they would get for the item at Ebay and then let it set there on auto re-list until someone comes along and bids on it. They loose nothing by doing this as most small sites feature free basic listings and most of the items are either duplicate items to those they have listed at Ebay or Yahoo. When they sell at the small site it probably isn't counted as their regular auction income but more like a bonus sale or frosting on the cake.
Answer
Romahawk.com is nice place... though I do question his taste in site colors.
Hi, Romahawk! Nice to see you here.
