Question
I cannot seem to get olister to work. the first time I opened it is asked for a username and then crashed. I do not use IE and understand that IE opens a log in window. Olister tells me I need to be connected when I am connected. I had to remove IE due to corrupted files from a virus and now when I try to download a new copy of IE it tells me I already have a newer version installed. I have looked for IE on my computer and cannot find anything. I use Firefox. I thought maybe someone here could help with olister and maybe IE.
I have posted this problem on the O boards and was told the .net files were corrupted. I have a feeling not having IE is the problem. Why in the heck do they tie olister with MS.net? Bidville even though no sales ever does have a great bulk lister.
Answer
FWIW, OLister also crashed repeatedly for me. I gave up & uninstalled it.
You should be able to reinstall IE after first clearing the registry key containing the MSIE version info:
Start}}Run
type "regedit"
click plus signs in the tree to drill down to
HKeyLocalMachine } Software } Microsoft } Windows
} CurrentVersion } InternetSettings
In the right pane, double-click on MinorVersion
this yields an "Edit String" dialog box
press backspace (clears the data entry box) and click OK
You may need to restart your PC before attempting to reapply the IE install.
regarding .Net
Most of the dotNet -dependent apps I've used have been flaky/buggy
UNinstalling and reinstalling the .Net files has helped.
Seems like each .Net app uses different "minor versions" & each installation file stomps (overwrites) whatever version of its DLLs are already present, without respect to/for versioning.
Why in the heck do they tie olister with MS.net?
Hmm, because .Net is currently the sexy, in the spotlight, platform "at university" throughout India???
Answer
Thank you Sidparks for your help!
so in other words olister is a piece of crap. I saw how many in the message board were having trouble and the #1 answer was clear your cookies and cache. I hate that answer.
