Does anyone have any idea how long it takes a check to clear a senders bank these days. 2 days 5 days 10 days or longer?

don't know, don't care, I don't hold for shipping.
I had a bounced one come in last month, it took 4 weeks to get here, it was from a town 2 hours away....no sense in holding till they clear, I am not sure they ever do.
I emailed the bouncer, and she drove over and paid me cash plus the bank fee. I don't have a problem with checks, knock on wood.

For most major banks, probably less than 2 days. They pretty much clear right away since they went to the new system. But the bank will still tell you couple of weeks.
If you have the other bank's number, sometimes they will tell you if the check has clear.

it depends on your bank and the buyers bank...however, I am like Gabs...I don't hold items...when I get paid I ship...I am trying to get rid of stuff and don't want to have to keep up with dates and etc...
I do have a $150.00 check from 1999 that I was never able to collect on but so far that is the only check that has bounced...of course it still bites to think about it!

We don't hold checks either..we have online banking and the checks usually are cleared in about 3 days.
I had a couple of UK buyers pay with a Paypal echeck and they took at least 9 days to clear.

I am in Canada and have been told by my bank that it could take 4 to 6 weeks for a US check to clear. I don't hold them. I've had 2 bounce in 5 years and both buyers made good including the handling fee. Don't you think it depends somewhat on what you sell and the type of buyer you attract? I sell mainly collectible type stuff.
