ebay slash website question

Question
with the new limit on emails to bidders, I gotta make a change in my ads...
I do not list shipping mostly becasue what we sell is heavy and it means 1 or 2 dollars difference between New York and Hawaii and we get a lot of multiple bidders...
Yes, I could do the round "up" thing but I don't want to.
Sooooo
I designed a chart for guesstimates but I don't want to put it on my ad page
Can I link to a page on my website for this chart and then to my website from there<grin>
Can this work ?
what are the no-no's

Answer
Gabs you should be able to. As long as the link is 'not obvious' or something. Their rules are clear as mud.
This seller has an actual link to their website from the auction text.
I have asked the PS and the trust and safety people about it 3 different times and they keep saying they will look into it. It's in obvious violation but they seem to be OK with it.
When only used the word 'website' and no link in my ads, I was threatneed and warned I'd be shut down.
I guess it depends on who your enemies are http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_frown.gif

Answer
Gabs,
Yes, as Mimi said the link on the shipping page to you actually 'sales page' would need to be descreet. No links like: click here to buy great products' <g> I would recommend a 'back to ebay' link which would bring them to a page with all of your auctions and a 'continue' page which would bring them to your sales page.

That's a nice classy way to do it Les, thanks for the tip - I'll try and see if we can work that one in!

Well from what I remember reading here and at ebaY, you're good because it is the 'two click' rule.

Answer
Gabs,
I would have it so that when they clicked your link to your shipping calculator, it opens a new page. That way your ebay auction, and the shipping calculator is open at the same time. Website 101 KEEP them on YOUR page http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif
Since the auction is still open, you do not need a back button to that auction, however, I would have a link to all of your auctions, and a link to your home page, clearly stating "Gabs wonderful website, you must visit" http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_cool.gif Don't say nutten about the great deals we all know you have http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif
Does your home page have anything for sale on that page directly? If not, that page is "safe" as far as ebay goes also.
first click would be your shipping calculator, second click would be your home page, and third click would be something for sale. Very safe by ebay standards.
Not to step on your toes Les, but a "continue" link probably would not get me to go where you trying to get me to go.
Gabs, instead of the above, you could go with a actual shipping calculator, which is a java script thingie on your page also.
Or I have just linked to UPS shipping calculator page also on very heavy items. However, Up to about 8 pounds, I just charge a flat rate, over that, I start doing the calculating thing. The reason I do not do this more, is I find many customers are too lazy, (clicking a mouse is a LOT of work http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_rolleyes.gif) or confusing for others. Especially when you start dealing with oversized shipping which I do.
Tell us what you do, and if you end up in Ebay jail http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif

Answer
I gotta make a "guesstimate" chart...that way they can just add up what their stuff weighs and calculate the maximum postage will be.
and I want them on my website http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif
I don't want them linking off of there to anywhere. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif
Yes possessive.....unless it is someone I have exchanged a link with http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif
nothing for sale on the home page.

My links all force a new window to open. So MY website is still up. http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif I am working on code that if they try to "close" my website window it zaps them with 50 gazillion volts. http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_cool.gif
Yep, I want to keep them there also http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif

Answer
hey, I 'll buy a copy of that code when you get it http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif
