Does anyone know of a way to accept credit cards that isn't so expensive? I don't mind paying the fee for the service, I just hated paying PayPal's fees for every transaction when only a tenth of them where credit cards.

merchant account is the most cost effective way to go, just go talk to your local bank manager, set it up
then set up a secure web page for them to pay you through
or some have the customer send the number in two or three emaisl and then piece it back together...
or you could have them phone you on a 1-800 line to give you the number over the phone.

You can have two paypal accounts. One that can't accept CC's but is free free free & one that does. The only problem is you need two bank accounts to link.. I only recently got an "upgraded" account the free one is linked to the email addy on ebay. If someone needs to charge I give them my other name.
I only added the new account for international buyers. the majority of my buyers pay out of their account ( I have inexpensive items). I have a couple customers that try to pay paypal using their CC & then say whoops & pay out of thier account. Once in a while I have to send an email explaining about not "upgrading" because of the high fees & they understand.
