Double-click the search box

Question
As an example ... when I go to My Ebay, there is a search box in the upper-right corner. The words "Start new search" appear. As soon as I click this box, the words disappear so that I may type my search terms. However, if I double-click this box, the name of our homeschool appears in the box.
I can only think of one piece of software on my computer that has this name on it (a name like Rough Roads Elementary). If my husband double-clicks the box on his computer, our last name shows in the field.
What's up with this? Possibly you all have already discussed this and I missed it, but it seems odd to me that this field has found the name of our school - which has never been used in conjunction with eBay.

Answer
Sounds like some sort of "auto-fill" option or program is enabled.
Is this possible?
Is there anything visible when you double-click?

Answer
Hmmmmmmmm, that's odd....I just tried it a MY eBay...Double clicking on the fill in box does nothing cept clear the text that's in there....Double clicking on the "SEARCH" box bring up the "All Catagorys" screen...

Answer
If you are using Internet Explorer, click Tools from the menu. Choose "Internet Options". Choose the "Content" tab. Click "AutoComplete". Click the "Clear Forms" button. To prevent it from happening in the future, UNcheck "Forms" in the "Use AutoComplete for" box.

Answer
Yeah, what Corrdog said. You probably have "autocomplete" turned on.

Go to "Tools" > "Internet Options" > "Content" , then in the autocomplete tab see what is checked. Probably the "forms" box is checked. You can uncheck it, then click the "clear forms" button, then go to your My eBay search and see if it still does it. It shouldn't...but you may need to clear your cache too.

Answer
LOL. I needs to type faster.

Answer
Hi corrdogg. It only happens when eBay's "Start new search" words are in the box - or - when the box is blank. If any search terms are there that I have already typed, this doesn't happen.
It's not something that is on our clipboards - we've tested that. We've never noticed any type of auto-fill feature for anything on our computers.
Did you try to double-click yours? Did anything appear? I didn't think too much about it when I noticed it on my machine quite some time ago, but my husband came over complaining about it this evening and I thought it was odd that it was happening on both of our computers.

Answer
oops ... I'm slow tonight. Will go check out options and report back.

Answer
Well, thanks, folks! That solved that mystery. I use Netscape, but found the Forms section and sure enough, that crazy school name was listed under the section: concatenations. I found some other interesting things in there as well and did some housecleaning.
Thanks again!
