Question
Why is it that all we hear people complaining over and over again, but yet do nothing about getting away from Ebay.
I challenge everyone to say "Screw You" to Ebay and pass the word to move to Yahoo auctions. Fees are limited at Yahoo and they have all the same features. Best yet, we can all put Ebay out of business only if we can pass the word to the "Loyal" ebayers to take a chance and get away from them.
I am completely anti-Ebay, especially since there are no more deals to find on Ebay anymore. I mean, take a good look, there isn't that much that doesn't cost less than retail, especially when you add in teh shipping cost that people are asking.
Again, challenge is to pass the word and get people to leave Ebay out in the cold......I have, can you..?

Particularly in the tool category. Why buy online from ebay saps when one can get a good warranty from the store, and repoir with the store as well. Or just go to Amazon and get it guranteed.
Answer
I left yahoo as a buyer when they required me to have a cc on file. Not to buy I won't and I think alot of buyers feel the same way. Has the cc requirement for buyers changed?
Answer

Been there, done that.
Answer
I can sell, and make money, on ebay.
In my niche, there is no other viable auction alternative that I have found.
Web site? Got more time in the day?
Sad fact is that sellers can leave ebay in droves, populate another auction site quite well....
and starve.
Because until the BUYERS leave ebay, we sellers are stuck.
Besides, I LIKE ebay. (egads did I actually admit that HERE? )

Exactly!! I could move my inventory to yahoo or bidville, but it will just sit. Sorry folks, ebay is where the customers are, and that is where I am. I would absolutely LOVE if another company could give ebay a run for their money. I think google would be a good candidate. It would be a pretty tough egg to crack though, getting sellers there, and more importantly, getting buyers there. I don't know if it is really going to happen. The only thing I can think of that might work is niche auction sites that can build up momentum and be an alternative to ebay. There used to be more of them in collectibles about 5-7 years ago, but they are basically all gone now.

Many of us have"been there; done that." But have we bought the tee shirt? Washed the car with it????? etc.?
I think people stay on eBay because they simply don't know how easy it can be to set up a website and drive traffic to it. Sure, it takes time. But nothing worth having comes easily. And I guess the thing that most sellers have to to settle in their own minds these days is: Is eBay really worth having?
If you don't want to, can't or don't know how to go it alone with your website, then by all means, stick with eBay. But once that choice is made, think serioulsy about forfeiting your right to complain. eBay has buyers. Sure. But it certainly doesn't have all the buyers.
Answer
Ebay is where the buyers are BECAUSE IT IS WHERE THE SELLERS ARE. So simple. If the sellers move, what do the buyers have to buy? Autographed pictures of Meg waving the white hankie as we all go out the door? I feel that if a business cannot go without the income they receive from Ebay for 6 weeks, then they are not in business, but merely exisitng on the crumbs that are left after Greedbay takes it's cut of the pie. Right now I am lucky to get a taste of it by licking the pie plate with what they leave me.
It is the same principle of running your own home. Living from paycheck to paycheck is something I did for years and years. Finally I put a plan into place and I don't do that anymore. I can now live for 6 months very comfortablly if the bottom fell out of my world. That is security. Because at the end of the 6 months, plan B would already be activated and working fine. If you have that kind of security selling with Ebay by all means stay there. I would!
