Last week ebay had a promotion and I said " Seems to me they are testing the waters to see how bad a promotion they can do and people still participate"

Now some may argue that this is better because they have included Featured options and some of those are probably a good deal for sellers of High end items. But for Joe Schmoe sellers (namely me) there isn't a thing in the bunch I would be for

With eBay I think you always have to look for a silver lining.
In the beginning they ran one promotion a year. Now it seems there is one somewhere every other week.
Many are useless for me but they get my attention, prompt threads like this one, produce suggestions from other sellers and occasionally give me an idea that is helpful.
Now that I have a Store and one line of new, higher end items this type of promotion might prompt me to run one listing for an expensive item, use Feature Plus and sub-title and hope it gets enough attention and drives traffic to the Store.
I don't think of it as helping to sell any one item but more generally a part of the Store advertising efforts. Some might do the same even if they don't have a Store but do have a large number of auction listings.
Even if I don't use the promotion it challenges me to think about advertising, which was seldom a concern before the Store, read what works for others and not worry because there will be another opportunity in the next few weeks.
While I agree it might be useless for most sellers I try to remember that eBay offers so many opportunities to be negative about their actions that I have to save my energy so I can be very negative about things that really cause me more problems like slow relisting or problems with SAB.

I am not positioned well right now or I would take one featured, but not this time, as usual lately the timing is wrong for me. I swear the ebay Gods hate me this year
