Question
I signed up with Overstock auctions right after they launched but hadn't listed anything yet. And I've been dissapointed when trying to do item searches there, too.
So today I decided it was time to get off the pot and get some things up on Overstock. Big hassle and waste of time.
First of all I found and downloaded the new Olister so I could do bulk uploads. It seemed like I needed .Net Framwork or some such that had gotten corrupted on my computer, so I downloaded the full version that would also install it.
Finally got Olister installed and running and began my first listing. Well, of course you know that the program wouldn't let me get past the first couple pages. Chose the category, starting price, inserted my template and description and when I clicked on 'next'........Nada. Wouldn't go anywhere. Started from scratch two or three more times and gave up. I'll have to go to their tech support, I suppose, to figure out what the glitch is.
In the meantime I think I'll just go ahead and do a few manually from their selling page online. Right? Not. It took me over 2 hours to get 2 completed auctions listed. And that's doing a cut and paste from my auctions in Turbo Lister.
I'll admit it took a little longer than it should because I had to go in and remove any reference to eBay or my store. But I kept getting hung up and had to restart the listings a couple of times each from the beginning. Finally got 2 done and thought I'd go for a third. I had to give up and call it a day when for the 4th time when I was at the end of the listing I got an error page that said my title was invalid????? I'd use the back button to see how I could correct it but was always bumped back to the beginning and had to start from scratch. After the 4th time I was DONE with it.
All this was bad enough, but I figured I'd have a go at it tomorrow when I'm fresher. THEN, when I got online a couple hours later to check my eBay and email I found a verrrry interesting thing. It seems that Overstock auctions has replaced my 'my eBay' link in my favorites. I always get to eBay and here and most other places from my favorites. My eBay was at the top of the list. When I got on to check it the Overstock Auctions link was in it's place and my 'My eBay' link was GONE. Totally.
How can this be? I've never seen such a thing before. At first I thought that maybe it had just been moved. But it was truly gone.
Has anyone else had any strange experiences with Overstock or their software? I'm curious. I thought it would be great to get started with another auction site, but now I'm having second thoughts about that one.

Answer
Maybe they're owned by Real Player. Get anywhere near them and they take over your entire system.

That's what my brother says about IE. He's an Opera lover.

Answer
I won't list on Overstock because...
I registered a few months ago after reading that some of the folks here were having luck over there. It seemed like the spam bombardment was immediate! I figured out how to stop the "invitations" (I thought, I still get them now and then), and was happy, but I didn't list because I was busy listing on Ol' Reliable. (snort! I made a funny!)
Then in November I came across a couple of items that weren't in my usual line of sales. I didn't want to use my eBay seller to list them so I did a search on "O". You still couldn't search on completed listings, so I gave up on the idea and gave them away at Christmas.
Within 24 hours I was being swamped with spam offers from all over the world for these items, most with my exact search terms in the subject line.
Maybe it's a bizarre coincidence, but I don't think so. I know it might have been a clever spyware thing, but if that was the case why didn't I get spammed on things I searched eBay for?
I just don't trust "O"...
Answer
I listed a couple of items that good sellers for me on Ebay and did not even get so much as a question or a bid or a buy. It was a total waste of my time. Live and learn, eh?

Answer
I listed some of my best sellers on O for their FLD. I sold some, yippee!
I'm still waiting to get paid.
Answer
I jumped on the bandwagon right from the start, big waste of time. No sales, no traffic nothing. It sure looks funny to have .50 charges on my credit card statement
Answer
I had some minor success before Christmas. I even got paid! But until, they atleast get the categories improved, I won't be back to sell. I do buy there, but only if I have time to browse the whole category, since you can't search with more than one keyword.
Answer
No bites on anything I listed on O.
The spam keeps on a'rollin in, though. It's driving me nuts.
PS they're going to have to work harder at 'taking on the big boys' LOL
