Question
No more. Period. Once upon a time, when I was selling antiques and such, it was never a problem. Now it's constant complaints about the most inane things, and I think it's just because they know I'm not going to make them send the item back... because shipping is so high. Stuff gets damaged, goes missing, they decide shipping is too expensive and blow off the transaction, etc. etc. etc.
Sure, 6 out of 10 go fine, but the other 4 eat up the profit of the rest, and the extra time that it takes to find boxes for them, answer the extra emails, etc. etc. etc. just isn't worth it anymore.
I'm done with that.

Toy Ranch, we've done the analysis on our own sales and while International sales make up only 8% of our business, they make up 18% of our email. We wrestle pretty often with with question of whether its really worth it - and so far, we've said, "yes" but someday... LOL!

Sorry TR.
I've had very little trouble, but then again I get all my answers BEFORE I bid.
When I was selling, I had very few problems with International sales.
The Japanese buyers were beyond great. I had some truly unbelievable sales there. I was usually able to sell them extra items, and they thanked me. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...s/icon_eek.gif
The European buyers I had were already conditioned to experiencing long waits.
I can understand you probably had trouble with Canadians, as my troubles came from Americans. We may share the same continent, but its two completely different mail systems, with customs adding their own spice of life in between. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_frown.gif
I never had an NPB from outside NA. Most of the ones I dealt with were just so glad that I would accept their bid.
I'm amazed at your 40% problem buyers, I really am.

Luckily, I've had good luck shipping to Europe, Australia, and Japan. There are some things I won't ship internationally any more, however. Puzzles, for instance, cost a lot to ship over there and I'm constantly underestimating the postage beacause I have to use double-wide boxes. No thanks.
I'm starting to think again about fragile items as well.
On the other hand, I've had some wonderful international under bidders.

Bobby,
Amazingly enough, on the hardware side (where over 50% of what we sell is overseas, and to some very remote locations) we've had VERY VERY little trouble. A few things taking long, but that's when they request it to be shipped at a low cost rate.
Mostly, for us at least, the bidders want the equiptment right away so we end up doing air freight, or, in many cases FedEx per their request.
Best,
Scott

I've had 6 packages lost and everyone was overseas..either Spain or Germany..I replaced them out of my inventory.
On multiple purchases of records they almost always want surface mail, then they are emailing me every other day wanting to know where there package is and then when they get it they don't have the decency to let me know they got it or even bother to leave feedback.
Then there's the story that I sent cash and am not going to send it again. Makes me look like a theif. That has happened countless times. I just file NPB and FVF on them.
I'm about ready to abort overseas sales also but in the record business I would lose some decent bids..the 500.00+ records I have sold went overseas. http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_razz.gif
