? Spoof eBay email

Question
How can one really tell if an email is real or not from ebay? I got one from ebay around Christmas and sent to spoof*ebay.com and I got the canned email that it wasn't from them. I got one this morning that looks more real as it says Dear diane23 (email address) and said my account may have fraudulent acitivity and provide a link to sign into ebay (ending with =diane23) and fill out the form. I clicked on the link and it brought me to the eBay sign in page. I closed out of the link. and went into ebay my normal way. The only thing I can think of is that I changed my CC with them to my business CC. When they ask for the name on the card, would you put your name or your business name? It also said I had 72 hours to respond or my account would be suspended. I did send that one spoof*ebay.com What do you guys think? I am right now waiting for a response from ebay and hoping for the best.

Answer
It is a spoof.
Ebay wouldn't ask for cc info that way. You can access all your info from My eBay - might be a good idea to change your password if you think it has been compromised. You can also access LIVE HELP from the LIVE HELP link on the eBay Home Page (upper RH corner).
waitasecond - I just noticed that LIVE HELP is no longer there...

Answer
I'm sure it's a spoof but if you want to ask eBay and need a quick response, use one of the LiveChat links below:
http://server.iad.liveperson.net/hc/...&site=16485391 Try this one first
http://livechat.ebay.com/Chat/servle...ex.jsp&grp=ATO this one is for possible account theft and unauthorized bidding/selling activity

Answer
I can't even FIND the LIVE HELP link anymore!
They probably got rid of it because people were actually using it!
Here is the spoof help page: http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/spoof-email.html

Answer
Also, never click on a link in one of those emails-they have been known to have keylogger viruses, trojans, hijacking, etc. You might want to run a scan or 2 to make sure your system is clean.

Answer
I've yet to receive one of these that was legit.
EVERY email I get asking for credit card or account verification gets dumped ASAP without clicking on ANY link no matter what.
In the case of eBay or PayPal I first "forward" the entire email without changing anything to either spoof*ebay.com or spoof*paypal.com. I always get an answer back with minutes.
They are really aggravating!
