I Wish the Media Just Wouldn't Report This eBay News

Question
Our local news reported last night about 3 tablespoons of water that was (maybe still is) up for auction on eBay. Supposedly Elvis drank from a cup that contained this water years ago. The reporter said the owner was inspired to list because of the grilled cheese sandwich auction. He reported how much each was "sold" for on eBay.

I wish they didn't report this type of crap on the news. Do they think the "winners" actually PAY for that?

On a similar topic, while I was looking over some collectible auctions yesterday, I found a listing for a potato chip that had the shape of Jim Morrison on it. Well, maybe if you squinted and were smoking a fat boy.

Answer
the grilled cheese auction ended with a winner that actually paid!
-thats the real miracle.

Answer
According to the story I just saw, the same casino that bought the cheese-Mary or Jesus or whatever it was, also bought the ghost-cane and now the Grinch-video-games. They're buying publicity and advertising, in effect, probably fairly cheaply since they DID get national mentions already. Unfortunately, I think that means the sellers of those items did get paid... the key is for the gimmick listings to attract the attention of the right "patrons of the art."
I see it as a continuation of a long tradition of Americana exposing just what a bunch of gullible idiots inhabit this country, and the world, for that matter. Same thing as paying money to the people running the roadside attraction in Pigeon Forge (TN) that features the "Buford Pusser Death Car." At some point, somebody had the imagination, or stupidity, to pay money for what was technically a burnt out piece of scrap metal. Probably used the phone and maybe a paper's classified ads to do the deal... this time, it was the internet and eBay.

Answer
Indeed! And then there was the story of a Tampa man who tried to sell OJ's Bronco a couple years ago. Had the title and vehicle history all "proving" the Bronco was OJ's. Lotsa looks, listed 6 times, but never got a single bid.
I wonder if "no sale" status was due to the seller's zero feedback (newbie) or if it was a judegment on OJ ....

Answer
Hard to say.
There are people who believe that OJ didn't do the deed and Nicole Simpson and/or Ron Goldman were dealing drugs through their connection with Faye Resnick. Certain it is they were doing drugs and having kinky sex with multiple partners.
Which would make Daddy Goldman's wrongful-death suit a greedy grab for goods the Goldman family was not entitled to, despite the massive media outpouring of sympathy for their loss.
I wouldn't buy OJ's Bronco, either, or any of the things the Goldmans managed to get their mitts on, like the Heisman Trophy.
