I may have run into a hornets nest with a purchase

Question
I just used the BIN to make a purchase... and then when I went to pay for the item, It showed up that my Ebay addy was unverified. Horse Hockey !! It is the same addy I have had since the Lord was a lad. And it has been verified!! Okay, now it gets even more interesting.
I email the seller and so far no reply. I go to pay for the item through the back door, going into my Paypal account and sending money for that particular auction. I get a notice when attempting to pay, that This recipeint accepts Paypal payments only through their website. To complete this payment please go to their website and follow their instructions.
Okay, so I give it another try and attempt to pay from Paypal invoice received. Now it says that "The Shipping amount has been updated to reflect actual
shipping costs to this location." Meaning that instead of paying $22.15 for shipping (which in itself is a tad high), it now shows $141.65 for shipping.
Then when I obtain Contact information from Ebay to call this seller personally, I find that the phone number shown is not a working number.
I reported that to eBay and told them all of what I just said here. I really am now very uneasy about this transaction and want out. Can I do that? Do you think Ebay will allow me to cancel the Buy It Now transaction?
Thanks,
LL

Answer
Check your feedback page in the top right corner to make sure that you are still shown as being located in the U.S. I've had two buyers in the last 6 months who eBay shows as being located in a foreign country but they are both located in the U.S. with U.S. addresses in PayPal. I also suggest your check your address of record with PayPal to ensure it also shows you as being located in the U.S.
I'm not sure what you mean by eBay allowing you to cancel the transaction. I've never seen an eBay auction page which eBay has shown a completed auction as being null and void. There is a way for the seller to cancel the transaction by mutual consent through the non-paying bidder process but no such eBay process that the buyer can initiate.
The question is whether eBay will remove any negative feedback the seller might give. However, I'd risk the seller doing so. Your response that seller wanted $141 for shipping instead of $22 is explanation enough!

Answer
If their number is false and you can not contact them then ebay will nix them. For false contact information. I know it's a rule but I don't have the url memorized.

Maybe, but more likely not... It's Christmas, the busiest time of the year. Send emails and give them a chance to get it sorted out. I'm betting it will get sorted out.
I just used the BIN to make a purchase... Define "just"
You mean like today?
