Question
Buyer registered 12/8 (0 FB, has bid and won one other auction besides mine), won one of my auctions last evening. Item sold for around $25.00. Buyer is in Alaska - wants to pay with PayPal and for me to send item to a different person at an address in Washington state. I suppose it's a Christmas present, I suppose it's on the up and up ...it's only going to be around $35.00 inc. S/H. Then again, I'm not in this to lose money. I guess I need a Nutra letter. I don't know what to say to her. Any help appreciated!
Answer
I've had that happen countless times and have always shipped with no problem...Of course, I always checked their feedback which you can't do with this individual as I would imagine he doesn't have any or very little.
Answer
If it makes you feel any better, I used a buying ID this Christmas. I live in Kansas and had some gifts shipped to Florida. Maybe your bidder is someone like me, with a 1000+ selling ID. Well, then again maybe not, because I asked before I bid.
Answer
So ...just eat it, huh - or take a neg? I guess there's no way to protect myself. Now I'm reminded as to why I didn't take PP in the past and probably won't after this. Guess I should be happy it's "only" 35 bucks.
Thanks doowhoper and Terra!
Answer
I would add Delivery Confirmation and email the tracking number to the high bidder. That way both you and the high bidder can track the shipment.
Answer
I bet you'll be OK. Since the high bidder is in Alaska they know it often takes a long time to get their package and the shipping is sky high to get it and then to have to turn around and reship it from Alaska back to the lower 48 would be another huge expense. It does make sense that they would want it shipped direct, especially this time of year. Of course, it would have been very nice if they had asked but if they are used to doing the retail (Land's End, etc.) type ordering and have little or no experience with eBay type buying, they probably just assumed that a shipping address could be different from their address as most if not all of the big retail companies allow that. Keep your fingers crossed. I've done it lots of times with no problem. It would really worry me for a very large amount but I'd take a chance for under $100. Don't ever want to lose any of course but sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and chance it.
Answer
Thanks Laura & Diane ...hopefully it will work out OK.
